Shake and stir the Primer can.
Use foam brush to paint narrow
½” wide strip of Primer at bottom
and top of your backsplash in a
small, three foot wide section.
Next use roller to apply a thin
coat of Primer on the backsplash
face in same three foot section.
Now - roll on a thin coat of
Primer to the countertop surface
and the front edge in the section.
Move onto the next three foot
section so the two sections
blend while they’re both still wet.
Repeat above until all of your
countertops are covered
Go back and check to make
sure your old countertop isn’t
showing through.
If you need to touch-up - allow
Primer to dry for an hour and
then touch-up with foam brush.
One coat of Primer is preferred.
Clean your foam brush for re-
use and dispose of roller cover.
Practice the Mineral
application on Kit’s
Black Practice Sheet.

Step 2
Step 3
5/20/15
Use the Kit’s foam brush
and apply narrow strip of
Topcoat to top and bottom
of backsplash in a section
which is about 3’ wide.
Next, use Kit’s second
roller pad and apply thin
coat of Topcoat to back-
splash in same section
Now apply Topcoat with
the roller to section’s
countertop surface.
If your tops have a sloping
front edge, continue your
roll stroke over the edge.
If you can’t reach across a
wide area such as an
island, then use an
extension pole on your
roller handle for reach.
Immediately after coating
the section, roll back over
the area by using one set
of end-to-end, one-way,
roll strokes across top.
Note if you missed a
spot, don’t re-coat
because it will create a
texture. You’ll cover the
spot with your next coat.
Repeat covering new
sections across all of your
tops. It’s optimal to keep
going until all are covered.
When done - clean roller
cover with warm water.
You don’t need to sand in
between coats. Wait four
hours, and then apply a
second coat. Three
Topcoats are maximum.
After your final Topcoat,
wait 1 hour and score tape
with blade and slowly pull
Important: Be sure to
caulk around your sink’s
rim with clear caulk.
Drying Times . . . Note all application times are minimums - you may wait longer . . .
1. Roll on one thin coat of Primer, then wait . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 8 hours
2. Lightly sponge on all Minerals, then wait . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .4 hours
3. Roll on first Clear Topcoat, then wait . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .4 hours
4. Roll on your final Topcoat., then wait . . .
- 1 hour and carefully remove tape. Score the tape’s edge while pulling it up
- 12 hours and apply clear acrylic caulk around sink’s rim to seal out water
- one day before using your countertops and dishwasher
- three days before setting small appliances back on your countertops
IMPORTANT Giani™ Granite cures in 14 days at 77º F and 50% relative humidity You may fully use
your countertops one day after you completed your application - Simply minimize aggressive cleaning
for the first 14 days. Avoid trapping water on your countertops over night, such as under a wash cloth, cutting
board, coffee pot or dish rack. If this occurs, the liquid may react with the Topcoat creating a temporary
texture, which will totally disappear and fully recover in approximately six hours if left untouched -
Cleaning . . . NEVER use harsh chemicals such as bleach, vinegar or any abrasives such as Comet
®
or
Soft Scrub
®
. Never use scratchy pads. ONLY use mild dish soap and water - or Giani™’ Cleaner. If food gets
stuck on, lay on warm wet cloth for few minutes and remove with cloth. Always use cutting board and hot pad.
