Improving the detection of harmful apps
If the function is enabled, Google also receives anonymous information on all apps installed
which are not from the Google Play Store. This helps Google to provide better protection for
users against harmful apps.

Downloads
You can download files from websites onto your device. Downloaded files are mainly stored in
the file manager app available, e.g. Files.
Working with downloaded files

Function Scan apps with Play Protect is enabled.
This option might not work for all apps because developers are able to disable this
function to prevent their apps being subjected to verification.
Content such as music, TV programs and books are generally not stored in the file
manager but in the app with which the download was performed.
