If this toggle is on (‘yes’), then the inputs will be read and in-
verted during the boot sequence. If you want the BR-SmartMedia
to start playing show(s) on one or more sequencers, you simply
set up one or more inputs to start or loop show(s) on the ‘opening’
edge of one or more inputs. On bootup, the BR-SmartMedia will
see the input as an ‘opening’, even if there is nothing attached to
it, and performs the appropriate action.
c) DMX-512: This toggle is used to enable and disable the DMX-512
in and out of the card, and the DMX-512 error checking.
You may need to disable the reception or transmission of
DMX-512 in some applications. The most common reason for dis-
abling reception is when a BR-SmartMedia card is installed in a six-
teen slot card cage and its DMX-512 is used to feed the other
cards in that cage. Because the DMX-512 lines are bussed across
the whole card cage, the BR-SmartMedia would hear its own
DMX-512 transmission. An external DMX-512 source takes prece-
dence over the on-board animation on a BR-SmartMedia, so it
would immediately stop reading data from the AutoDownload file
on the SmartMedia Flash Card and use the incoming DMX-512
for its data source. Since it is its own data source, this doesn’t work
too well. Disabling the DMX-512 reception fixes this situation.
Note that version 1.0 of the BR-SmartMedia hardware does
not physically disconnect the DMX-512 transmission lines from the
DMX-512 terminals. It just stops transmission of data. Version 1.1
and beyond puts the transmitter into a high impedance state, ef-
fectively disconnecting it from the DMX-512 output pins when it is
disabled.
The options for the DMX-512 input and output are:
1) 'Tx & Rx w/CS 'DMX-512 Transmission (Tx) and reception
(Rx) WITH checksums (Default).
2) 'Tx & Rx wo/CS': DMX-512 transmission (Tx) and reception
(Rx) without checksums.
3) 'Tx only w/CS': DMX-512 transmission (Tx) only with check-
sums
4) 'Tx only wo/CS': DMX-512 transmission (Tx) only without
checksums
5) 'Rx only w/CS': DMX-512 reception (Rx) only with check-
sums.
6) 'Rx only wo/CS': DMX-512 reception (Rx) only without
