Assembly NOTE. Insert the locking pin to prevent the shaft rotating (Fig. D). A It is necessary to attach the upper and lower shafts, fit the blade or spool head and the appropriate safety guard and attach the secondary handle. Joining the upper and lower shafts B 1. Depress the location pin and insert the lower shaft (10) into the upper shaft (9). Rotate the lower shaft until the pin locates positively into the hole in the upper shaft. (Fig. A). 2.
3. Remove the split pin, nut (by turning in a clockwise direction) and outer flange. Leave the inner flange fitted. NOTE. Insert the locking pin to prevent the shaft rotating (Fig. D). NOTE. The outer flange is not used when fitting the line trimmer head 4. Place the spool head on the end of the shaft and tighten in an anti-clockwise.
• Mix only enough fuel for your immediate needs. Do not store the mixed fuel mixture. L Stopping the brush cutter WARNING: The blade/spool will continue to rotate for a few seconds after the engine has stopped. 1. Release the throttle trigger and Q allow the engine to idle for a few moments. 2. Move the ignition switch (11) to the off position marked STOP (Fig. Q). 3. The engine will now stop. Starting the brush cutter Choke control Start position (choke closed). Run position (choke open). 1.
• Bring the engine to full throttle before entering the material to be cut. The blade has maximum cutting power at full throttle and is less likely to bind, stall or cause blade thrust. • Place yourself in a well balanced position, stable on both feet. • Cut while swinging the upper part of your body from left to right. Swing the unit in the same direction as the blade spins, which increases the cutting action.
4. Remove the bump knob completely and remove the spool from the spool shaft. Discard any short lengths of remaining cutting line. 5. Take a 6 metre length of Ø2mm line and thread the ends through the two holes in the bottom of the spool assembly and pull them (together) all the way through (Fig. T). Then thread one of the ends through the loop in the spool, as shown (Fig. Q). 6. Wind the lines (together) tightly onto the spool head in the direction indicated by the arrow on the spool (Fig. V). 7.
• Check the fuel filter periodically. Do not allow dust to enter the fuel tank. A clogged filter will cause difficulty when starting the engine or abnormalities in engine performance. • When the filter is dirty, replace the filter. • When the inside of the fuel tank is dirty, it can be cleaned by rinsing the tank out with petrol. Checking the spark plug Check the spark plug every 10-15 hours of use. 1. Remove the spark plug cover. 2.
Problems Power loss or sudden stopping of the engine • Check whether the fuel tank is empty. • The mixture does not reach the carburettor. Clean the fuel filter in the fuel tank. • There is water in the mixture. Drain and rinse all the fuel system. • The air filter is dirty. Clean the air filter. • There are carbon deposits in the cylinder exhaust pipe or the muffler. Clean those or change the muffler. Bad quality cut • Overloaded cutting due to too high grass or too thick for engine power.
