Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury. b. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire. e. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help.
• Rags, cloths, cord, string and the like should never be left around the work area. • Support the work properly. • If you are interrupted when operating the drill, complete the process and switch off before looking up. • Periodically check that all nuts, bolts and other fixings are properly tightened. • When using the drill, use safety equipment including safety glasses or shield, ear defenders, and protective clothing including safety gloves. Wear a dust mask if the drilling operation creates dust.

Know your product 1. Bit holder nose cone 2. Rubber coated handle 3. Depth adjustment collar 4. Locking collar 5. Gear selector 6. Forward/reverse switch 7. Variable speed trigger switch 8. Battery pack 9. Battery pack release button 10. Charger 11.
Before inserting into or removing the battery pack (8) from the charger (10) always ensure that the plug is not in the mains socket. Slide the battery on to the charger with the rails of the d battery pack (e) aligned with the rails of the charger (d). Slide the battery down until it “clicks” into position. Accessories The SG18V is supplied with: • 2 x 18V Battery packs • Bit holder (with nose cone) We recommend that you purchase you accessories in the store from where you obtained the tool.
To obtain the best life for the battery Switching on and off Attach the battery pack (8). To switch on, squeeze the trigger switch (7). This trigger switch is an electronic variable speed control which enables the user to vary the speed continuously. The speed varies according to how far the trigger switch is depressed, the further it is depressed the faster the motor will rotate and the lighter it is depressed, the slower it will rotate.
2 Speed gearbox Removing the adjustment collar and nose cone assembly The 2 speed gearbox allows you to select a gear with the optimum speed and torque to suit the application. To select the first gear (low speed, high torque setting), turn the tool off and wait until it stops. Push the gear selector (5) back, towards the chuck, so that “LOW” is displayed. Note. Use the first gear for high torque applications such as driving screws into decking.
Fitting the magnetic bit holder Fitting the adjustment collar and nose cone assembly Hex head screws, hex bits and magnetic bit holders such as that supplied as accessories can be fitted into the clutch of the tool. When fitting a hex head screw, adjust the driving depth so that the distance between the underside of the screw head and the outer rim of the nose piece is 1-1.5mm (to suit the required degree of tightness).
Adjusting the driving depth of screws Operation Install the bit tip in the bit holder. Adjust the driving depth with the adjustment collar (3). Check that the tool is set for forward or reverse rotation as desired. When driving, place the screw on the bit, operate the trigger switch and apply pressure to the tool. Drive the screw until the nose cone contacts the work surface at which time the clutch will disengage and the driving action will stop.
Hints for use Maintenance • When driving screws close to the ends of hardwoood or treated timber boards it may be necessary to pre-drill pilot holes to prevent spitting. • Use the proper screws for the task on hand. Drywall screws are not suitable for decking applications. • Make sure that screws are long enough to ensure a secure fastening. • Use the low speed gear when driving into decking and the like, and the high speed gear when driving into drywalls.
