Installing and Connecting the Hardware
1. Position the GT 205.
Place the unit on a flat, level surface, or install the unit into a rack
with the four supplied rack screws.
C
AUTION:
Speakers are magnetic devices; they can harm your data if they’re
too close to your hard drives or tape cartridges.
2. Connect the power cable (power off):
Make sure that the power is off on all of your computer equipment
and the GT 205.
Connect the power cable to the back of the GT 205. Plug the
three-prong plug into an appropriate power receptacle, preferably
with surge and spike protection.
3. Connect the 2-meter FireWire cable.
Plug one end of the FireWire cable into your computer’s FireWire
port, and the other into one of the two lower FireWire ports on
the GT 205 (it doesn’t matter which one). If the expansion bay in
the GT 205 holds a FireWire device, there will be two additional
FireWire ports above the lower connectors. Daisy-chain the lower
and upper ports together with the supplied .5-meter FireWire
cable.
4. If the device in the expansion bay is SCSI, connect a SCSI cable
from one of the ports on the GT 205 to a SCSI card in your
computer. (SCSI cable and card sold separately) Connect the
supplied terminator to the other open SCSI port on the GT 205.
5. Insert any GT Key cartridges into the unit.
Pull the handle on the cartridge out, then slide the cartridge into
the slot on the GT 205 and press the handle in well to secure the
cartridge firmly into place.
