MARINE MOBILE SERVICE IDENTITY (MMSI) FEATURES • Waterproof to IP67 The MMSI is a 9-digit number used to identify a radio that is capable of using Digital Selective Calling (DSC). All Ships calls are classified as ROUTINE, SAFETY or URGENCY. URGENCY calls (similar to a PAN PAN call) may be sent when a vessel is not in immediate distress but has a problem that may lead to a distress situation. SAFETY calls (similar to SECURITY calls) may be sent when safety information needs to be transmitted to other vessels.
