the remote unit is flashing. (see Technical Data). If the on-line indicator is not flashing, press the link button
(VIII).
Pick up the handset (or, if available on your telephone, press the headset button) to get a dial tone or
answer a call.
To make a call, dial the desired number.
To end the call, put down the handset (or, if available on your telephone, press the release button).
To make or accept further calls, you just have to pick up the handset and wait for a dial tone or answer a
call.
Alternatively, if you wish to silence your headset completely between calls, press the link button (VIII) after
a call is ended and press it again to re-establish link before answering or making calls.
Using GN Ellipse and a GN 1000 RHL
Put on your headset.
Answer the call or wait for dial tone by pressing the link button (VIII) on the remote
unit.
To make a call, dial the desired number.
To end the call, press the link button (VIII) on the remote unit.
Charging the battery
20. When the GN Ellipse is not in use, place the remote unit
in the base. This ensures optimum battery lifetime. When
placed in the base unit, the battery charging indicator
(IV) automatically lights up and the remote unit is being
charged. It takes 3 hours to fully charge the battery. If
you use GN Ellipse in between, charging takes longer. A
fully charged battery provides up to 12 hours of talktime.
With an extra battery placed on the other side of the base
unit, it is possible to double the talktime up to 24 hours.
If battery power gets too low, GN Ellipse lets you know
by sending a series of signals every 20 seconds in your
headset (see Technical Data).
Battery discharge
To ensure optimum battery lifetime, the battery should be completely discharged regularly. A discharge/
recharge cycle will take app. 2 hours. When fully discharged, the battery will automatically be recharged. If
the remote unit is removed from the base unit during the discharge, this will automatically be cancelled and
the system will resume normal operation.
21. Place remote unit in the base unit. The GN Ellipse must be on handset mode (on-line indicator (V) on the
remote unit is off).
22. Press and hold both the mute button and link button (VIII) for 5 seconds to
start the discharge. When the battery is discharging, the on-line indicator (III)
and the battery charging indicator (IV) will flash alternately.
Note: Only one battery can be placed in the base unit when discharging.
Furthermore, the battery must be placed in the base unit before the battery
discharge mode is entered by pressing the mute and link button (VIII).
