5.3. Special protective equipment and precautions for fire-fighters
Firefighting instructions
Evacuate area. Use w ater spray or fog for cooling exposed containers. Do not allow w ater to
enter the vessels, a violent reaction may occur. Eliminate all ignition sources if safe to do so.
Fight fire from safe distance and protected location. In case of fire: stop leak if safe to do so. Do
not enter fire area w ithout proper protective equipment, including respiratory protection.
Protection during firefighting
Do not enter fire area w ithout proper protective equipment, including respiratory protection. Do
not attempt to take action w ithout suitable protective equipment. Self-contained breathing
apparatus. Complete protective clothing.
Other information
High temperature decomposition products are harmful by inhalation. On exposure to high
temperature, may decompose, releasing toxic gases.
SECTION 6: Accidental release measures
6.1. Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
General measures
Clean up any spills as soon as possible, using an absorbent material to collect it. Prevent from
entering sew ers, basements and w orkpits, or any place w here its accumulation can be
dangerous. Eliminate every possible source of ignition. Evacuate area. Stop leak if safe to do so.
Notify authorities if product enters sewers or public w aters. Absorb spillage to prevent material
damage.
6.1.1. For non-emergency personnel
Protective equipment
Avoid contact w ith skin, eyes and clothing. Wear recommended personal protective equipment.
Emergency procedures
Ventilate spillage area. Evacuate unnecessary personnel. Do not breathe vapours. No open
flames, no sparks, and no smoking.
6.1.2. For emergency responders
Protective equipment
Do not attempt to take action w ithout suitable protective equipment. Wear recommended
personal protective equipment. For further information refer to section 8: "Exposure
controls/personal protection".

6.2. Environmental precautions
Avoid release to the environment. Do not allow to enter drains or w ater courses. Notify authorities if product enters sewers or public w aters.
6.3. Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
For containment
Absorb spilled material w ith sand or earth. Contain any spills w ith dikes or absorbents to prevent
migration and entry into sew ers or streams. Stop leak w ithout risks if possible.
Methods for cleaning up
Take up liquid spill into absorbent material. Soak up w ith inert absorbent material (for example
sand, saw dust, a universal binder, silica gel). Take up mechanically (sw eeping, shovelling) and
collect in suitable container for disposal. This material and its container must be disposed of in a
safe w ay, and as per local legislation. Clear up rapidly by scoop or vacuum.

Dispose of materials or solid residues at an authorized site.
