Definitions
The following is a list of initials, terms, and definitions used with this product.

Term Definition
AC Alternating Current; refers to voltage produced by the inverter, utility grid, or generator
AGS Advanced Generator Start
AUX Inverter’s 12-volt auxiliary output
CE Conformité Européenne; French for “European Conformity”; a marking on OutBack
products indicating that they meet European Union requirements
DC Direct Current; refers to voltage produced by the batteries or renewable source
DVM Digital Voltmeter
FN-DC FLEXnet DC; the OutBack Battery Monitor
Grid-interactive,
grid-tie
Utility grid power is available for use and the system is capable of returning (selling)
electricity back to the utility grid.
Ground Fault An unsafe condition of current flow to ground, resulting from accidental contact
between an electrical source and ground

Positive-Ground A wiring system that bonds the positive conductor to ground for safety

RTS Remote Temperature Sensor; accessory that measures battery temperature for charging

Soft Key; a key with programming that varies with screen
System display Remote interface device (such as the MATE, MATE2, or MATE3), used for monitoring,
programming and communicating with the inverter; also called “remote system display”
