Transmitter power supply
The
mxs-8, mxs-12 HoTT senders are supplied
with three alkaline batteries as standard equipment
(subject to change).
When the transmitter is used, its battery voltage should
be monitored by way of the LED status indicator.
ATTENTION!
When the voltage drops below 3.6 V, an audible warning
signal sounds and the LED status indicator begins to
flash rapidly. Operation should then be terminated imme-
diately in order to replace the transmitter batteries.
Charging an (optional) transmitter battery
The
mxs-8, mxs-12 transmitters can optio-
nally be fitted with rechargeable NiMH batteries. These
can be charged using a suitable USB cable connected to
the micro USB port on the transmitter (refer to page 15).
Another suitable option is via a cellphone charger with
micro USB plug and 5 V DC charging voltage. As a rule of
thumb for charging time, a completely discharged battery
will require 12 hours to recharge at a current level equal
to one tenth of its specified capacity.
WARNING!
The transmitter must be switched ‘OFF’ during the entire
charging procedure. Never switch on the transmitter when
it is connected to the charger. Even a brief interruption
to charging can cause charging voltage to rise to an
over-voltage level that will immediately damage the
transmitter. Also for this reason, be sure all connectors
are always plugged in securely and have good contact.
Inserting the transmitter (rechargeable) batteries
To insert the transmitter (rechargeable) batteries, first un-
latch and remove the battery compartment cover on the
back of the transmitter. Then place the supplied batteries
correctly poled in the holder (refer to figure above right).
Place the holder back into the compartment and connect
the plug to the socket. The battery connector is protected
against a reverse polarity connection by two slanted edges
(refer to figure).
Close the cover.

Removing the transmitter (rechargeable) batteries
To remove the transmitter (rechargeable) batteries, first
unlatch and remove the battery compartment cover on
the back of the transmitter. Then remove the (rechargea-
ble) batteries from the holder. Place the holder back into
the compartment and close the cover.
If the transmitter remains unused for some time, the
(rechargeable) batteries should be removed from the
device in order to avoid any damage to the transmitter
(e.g. as a result of electrolyte leakage).
Mode setting
The
mxs-8, mxs-12 HoTT transmitter are
supplied in Mode 1, i.e with the throttle at right, as a
standard feature. This is the preferred configuration for
almost all aircraft models and normally does not need to
be changed.

The transmitter can, however, easily be converted to
throttle at left (Mode 4), by exchanging the joysticks in the
housing. This requires opening the transmitter housing
(refer to directions and figure at right).
