11.0 USAGE AND LIMITATIONS

GreenGuard

DC14 is intended to perform as a drainage mat in both commercial and residential

construction applications when installed in accordance with this Guide. The following conditions

apply to the use of the GreenGuard

DC14 Drainage Mat:

• GreenGuard

DC14 is a drainage mat that is used to manage water and wind-driven rain that

enters the wall assembly through the cladding or siding. The GreenGuard

DC14 is made from

synthetic materials that are generally recognized as not providing a food source for insects,

fungus, mold or mildew.

• GreenGuard

DC14 should be covered with the exterior cladding or siding within 60 days

of installation.

• When stored outdoors, GreenGuard

DC14 should be protected from exposure to direct sunlight

using the original packaging or an opaque, light-colored tarp. Material that has been unwrapped

should be covered or rewrapped.

WARNING: Plastic drainage mat and building wraps will ignite if exposed to re of sufcient

heat and intensity. Protect these products from exposure to open ame or other ignition source

during shipment, storage and installation.

COMMERCIAL AND RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION 5.0 FLASHINGS AND JOINT/SEAM SEALING PRODUCTS 5.1 GreenGuard® Butyl Flashing, GreenGuard® Flashing and GreenGuard® SuperStretch™ Flashing Flashing membranes are designed for sealing around window and door rough openings and other exterior wall penetrations.

GREENGUARD® DC14 INSTALLATION GUIDE FOR 6.5 Install self-adhering flashing (see Section 5.1) in shingle fashion by first installing the sill flashing (see Figure 6c). Then install the window in accordance with the manufacturer’s installation instructions. When the window is in place, install the jamb and head flashings in shingle fashion (see Figures 6d and 6e). Then cover the head flashing at the top of the window with the building wrap (see Figure 6f).

COMMERCIAL AND RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION 7.0 INSTALLATION OF GREENGUARD® DC14 DRAINAGE MAT 7.5 As an added level of protection, tape the seams of DC14 using the GreenGuard® Contractor Tape described in Section 5.2 (see Figure 7d). Once the WRB has been installed in accordance with Section 6.0, proceed with the installation of the GreenGuard® DC14 as follows: 7.

Figure 7g: Finished Wall System— Adhered Stone Veneer 8.0 INSTALLATION OF GREENGUARD® DC14 IN RESIDING APPLICATIONS Step 1: Remove existing siding. If underlying building paper or housewrap is damaged, install a new layer of GreenGuard® Building Wrap, following the applicable installation guidelines for the product used.

COMMERCIAL AND RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION Step 1: Begin by unfolding several feet of the GreenGuard® DC14 bundle and aligning the product with the bottom edge of the wood sheathing at the bottom of the wall. Step 2: Attach the GreenGuard® DC14 using common roofing nails spaced 2 feet on center around the perimeter of the wall and along vertical framing members. Nails should penetrate the framing member a minimum of 1/2 inch.
