ECTION 3: HAZARDOUS INGREDIENTS
Fertilizer may contain a small amount (1.2%) of ammonium nitrate. Supplier states that
this low concentration poses no threat as an oxidizer under normal conditions of storage
and handling. Fertilizer is further diluted in the manufacture of PennMulch.
Polyacrylate in pure powder form is an irritant to the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract.
The supplier states that one or more hazardous ingredients under OSHA’s Hazard
Communication Rule, 29 CFR 1910.1200, have been identified, but claims their identity
is a trade secret. Polyacrylate is very dilute in PennMulch and is not in a powder form
that can be readily inhaled.
Colorant contains no reportable quantities of hazardous ingredients, according to the
supplier.
