1 Determine the size and drain location.
2 With the roughed-in 2 x 4 curb in place, measure the distance
from the drain to the wall opposite the drain. Measure the distance
along the length of the drain and, starting at one end, figure the
Pre-Pitch and Quick-Pitch placement every 8"–12".
4 To figure the liner size, measure the shower compartment’s
length and width and add 6" or more if desired to all sides so
that the liner will go up the walls to a minimum height of 3" above
the shower curb on all walls and over the curb. (Video shows all
walls being water proofed and is highly recommended.)
Note: Quick Pitch Float Sticks (#QPK-101) are 36” in length.
If the distances are greater, Quick-Pitch Extended Float Sticks
(#EFS-103) kits will be required.
3 To determine the quantity of Kirb-Perfect (#KP-543) sections
needed, measure in 30" increments. Curb sections are 30" long
and have dovetail connectors to attach to one another and will
accommodate all lengths and angles.
5 Once you have figured the kits and liner necessary for your Goof
Proof Shower, you will need to figure the amount of bedding mud
(mixture consist of 1 part Portland cement and 4 parts clean
sand) necessary to fill each of your kits. Multiply your floor square
footage calculations by 9.5lbs. per sq. ft. to get mud amount for
each kit. (Example: 3 x 5 = 15 sq. ft. x 9.5lbs. = 143lbs.) This
amount should accommodate all kits.
6 After all materials are gathered you will want to watch the
instructional DVD a time or two to gain confidence in the steps
necessary to complete your Goof Proof Shower. (The DVD is
accessible online 24/7.)
