11.4 Updating software
The software for the digital receiver is provided by the Astra
19.2° East satellite. The digital receiver is designed so that
you can update its operating software and certain channel
information directly using this satellite.

• Select “Software Update” in the main menu with ▼/▲ and
press OK to confirm.
– The digital receiver starts the search for new and then
checks whether the software used in the digital receiver
needs to be updated.
This process may take several minutes.
Please wait until the search is finished. The information
received on the available files and versions is displayed
in the “ Software Update” menu (“New Version”, e.g. “ 9”
or “up to date”).

• If a “New Version” is displayed (e.g. “9”), press OK to start
the software update.
– Display shows: “Search… (-15 min.)”.
A thin yellow bar displays the progress of scan and
download. A wide yellow bar displays the status of the
updates.
Note:
– You can cancel the download at any time with OK or Z.
– An interruption during the downloading process (for exam-
ple by pulling out the mains plug) can damage the operat-
ing software of the digital receiver!
– After updating the software, the receiver switches to preset
channel 1.
Note:
In exceptional cases, the software can be updated using a
PC via “SOFTWARE/MOUSE” RS232 interface. You can find
the required software and the corresponding instructions on
the Internet under: http://www.gss.tv.
