In radio mode: For storing radio stations.
POWER SUPPLY ___________________________________ Mains operation Note: Check that the mains voltage on the type plate (on the bottom of the device) corresponds to your local mains supply. If this is not the case, contact your specialist dealer. 1 Plug the mains cable supplied (in the battery compartment) into the »AC ~ « socket on the Radio Recorder (back of device). 2 Plug the mains cable into the wall socket.
POWER SUPPLY _______________________________ Inserting batteries in the remote control 1 Open the battery compartment by pushing down the lid of the battery compartment. 2 When inserting the batteries (2 x 1.5 V, type UM4/R03/AAA), observe the polarity marked on the base of the battery compartment. Note: If the device no longer reacts properly to remote control commands, the batteries may be flat. Be sure to remove used batteries.

SETTINGS ______________________________________________ Setting the clock When the device is connected to the mains supply and the time has not been set, the time display flashes. The following settings may only be performed in standby mode. 12Hr 24Hr 1 To set the 12-hour format, briefly press »PROG/RANDOM/TIME«. – Display: »12Hr« briefly, then the current time, e.g.»1:25 PM«. 2 To set the 24-hour format, press »PROG/RANDOM/TIME« again. – Display: »24Hr« briefly, then the current time, e.g.»13:25«.

RADIO MODE _______________________________________ Antennas 1 For FM stations (VHF) extend the telescopic antenna »ANTENNA«. Note: If the FM signal is too strong, it is advisable to push in the telescopic antenna. 2 The Radio Recorder has a built-in rod antenna for MW/LW reception. Turn the radio recorder about its own axis to point the antenna. CD MODE _________________________________________ The device is suitable for music CDs bearing the logo shown here (CD-DA), and for CD-Rs and CD-RWs with audio data or MP3 formats. MP3 files must be created at a sampling frequency of 44.1 kHz. Several sessions with MP3 data can be read on a CD, i.e. the device is multi-session capable. In MP3 mode, the terms ”album” and ”file” are very important. ”Album” corresponds to a folder on a PC, ”File” to a file on a PC or a CD-DA track.

CD MODE _____________________________________________ Creating a track memory You can create a track memory of up to 32 files on different albums (MP3) or up to 32 tracks (CD-DA) for the current CD in any order you choose and then play them back in that sequence. TAPE MODE __________________________________________ Selecting the Tape input source 1 TAPE Select the Tape input source with » RADIO/TAPE/CD« on the device or » SOURCE« on the remote control. – Display: » TAPE«. 2 Open the tape compartment with » 7/ə « on the device. 3 Insert a tape in the compartment with the open side facing down and the full reel on the left side (see »TAPE DIRECTION«). 4 Close the tape compartment by pressing the front side of the tape compartment » CLOSE« carefully.
TAPE MODE ___________________________________________ Recording from the radio 1 Place a tape with the protection tabs intact in the tape compartment and use » « or » « on the device to find the correct position on the tape. 2 Select the Radio input source with »BAND« and tune in the radio station. 3 Press » « to start recording. – The » « button is automatically engaged. – The device automatically stops recording at the end of the tape. 4 Press »II« to pause recording.
TIMER MODE ________________________________________ Your radio recorder has a switch-on timer, which turns the device on and off at a pre-set time. Setting the switch-on timer Notes: The clock on the device must already be set. When setting the time, if no button is pushed for more than 10 seconds, the system will end the procedure automatically. You then have to start over. 1 In standby mode, hold down »INTRO/REPEAT/TIMER«. – Display: »w« and »ON«, the hours display flashes.
INFORMATION_____________________________________ Cleaning the tape drive 1 1 2 3 To guarantee good recording and playback quality, clean the parts shown (1, 2, 3) after every 50 hours of use, or once a month. Open the tape compartment, moisten a cotton swab with alcohol or a special head-cleaning fluid and clean the idler (3), the capstan (2) and the magnetic heads (1). Close the cassette compartment. You can also play a cleaning cassette to clean the magnetic heads (1).

If you are unable to rectify the fault using the information given here, contact your local dealer or service specialist. Under no circumstances should you attempt to repair the radio recorder yourself, as this would invalidate the guarantee.
