DIMMER Adjusts the brightness of the display to one of three levels, switches off the backlight for the display. SLEEP Activates the sleep timer settings. DISPLAY Switches between the different types of DAB station information. MENU Briefly pressing opens the DAB menu. Holding down calls up the reset function.
OVERVIEW ____________________________________________ Controls on the front AUTO DIMMER Automatically adjusts the brightness of the display to the brightness of the surroundings. Display Dot Matrix Display. Displays time, date and DAB station information. Controls on the back DC y y Socket for the mains cable. Headphone jack for connecting a headphone or earphone set with a jack plug (ø 3.5 mm). – The speaker on the unit is switched off. Wire antenna for DAB reception.
POWER SUPPLY______________________________________ Mains operation with the mains adapter supplied (9 V, 800 mA) Check if the power supply unit on the type plate corresponds to your local mains supply. The only way to completely disconnect the device from the mains is to unplug the mains cable. 1 Plug the mains adapter into the wall socket. 2 Insert the plug of the mains adapter cable into the »DC« socket (on the back of the device).
SETTINGS ______________________________________________ Setting the time When you first switch on the device, the automatic station search starts (Display: »Welcome to DAB« and a progress scale). Once the device has found a DAB station it begins playback and the time is set automatically. If no DAB station is found, the display shows »No stations available«. Readjust the device and the wire antenna for better reception and repeat the automatic station search as described below.
SETTINGS ______________________________________________ Manual station search If the automatic station search is not successful, you can search for or add DAB stations manually. 1 Briefly press »MENU« to call up the DAB menu. ɶ 2 In the DAB menu, press » TUNING and confirm by pressing »SELECT«. – Display: »œ5A 174.92MHz æ«. ɶ ʺ« to select option »Manual tune« ʺ 3 Press » TUNING « to select the frequency and press »SELECT« to confirm. – Display: e.g. »7B 190.64MHz« and »ˇˇˇ []«.
SETTINGS ______________________________________________ Storing stations 1 Search for the station as described. 2 Briefly press »PRESET«. – Display: »œEmpty preset 1 æ«, if no stations are stored. ɶ TUNING ʺ«. 3 Select the preset (»1« to »10«) with » 4 Save the station by pressing »PRESET« and holding it until »Preset 1 saved« appears in the display. 5 To store more stations, repeat steps 1 to 4. – If you save more than 10 stations, the stations saved previously are overwritten.
SETTINGS ______________________________________________ Alarm settings You can select four different alarm times. You can choose whether you want to be woken by the radio or by an alarm tone. The alarm can go off once (»œOnce æ«), every day (»œDaily æ«), on weekdays (»œWeekdays æ«) or at the weekend (»œWeekend æ«). The device has a built-in memory chip; if the power supply is interrupted, the chip stores all alarm settings until the power returns.
SETTINGS ______________________________________________ 7 Select the alarm signal (»DAB« = radio or »Buzzer« = alarm tone) by pressing » TUNING « and press »SELECT« to confirm. – The device wakes you up at the set time and on the selected wake-up days, either with a DAB station or with an alarm tone. If you have selected the DAB radio as the wake-up signal, the device switches on with the station last selected.
SETTINGS ______________________________________________ Setting the snooze If you want »SNOOZE« to interrupt the alarm, you can set the time period after which the alarm resumes. 1 Press »ALARM« to open the alarm menu. – Display: »Alarm settings«, and under it »œSet alarm æ«. ɶ ʺ ɶ ʺ 2 Press » TUNING « to select option »Snooze« and press »SELECT« to confirm. – Display: »Snooze«, and under it »œ5 minutes æ«.
OPERATION ___________________________________________ General information Switching on and off 1 Press »ON/OFF« to switch on the device from standby mode. – The device switches on with the DAB station last selected. 2 Press »ON/OFF« to switch the device to standby. Adjusting the volume 1 Press »VOL –« or »VOL +« to reduce or increase the volume. Displaying the date or time 1 While in stand-by mode, press »DISPLAY« to choose whether the display shows the time or the time and date.
OPERATION ___________________________________________ DAB operation Selecting stations After the end of the search, the DAB stations are alphanumerically arranged (A .. Z, 0 ... 9) in a station list. ɶ TUNING ʺ«. 1 Scroll through the station list by repeatedly pressing » 2 Briefly press »SELECT« when you have found the station you want. – Display: briefly »Now tuning...«. – The radio station is then played.
OPERATION ___________________________________________ Displaying DAB station information 1 Repeatedly press »DISPLAY« to display the station information. – The following information appears successively in the display: – e.g. name of the artist, track name, telephone numbers, internet addresses, information, etc. as ticker text. This information is supported by the station. An empty space appears if this information is not available. – Programme types such as »Rock Music« or »Classical Music«.
OPERATION ___________________________________________ Interrupting the alarm 1 Press »SNOOZE« while the alarm is going off. – The alarm (DAB station or alarm tone) stops. – The alarm goes off again at the selected intervals (5, 10, 15 or 20 minutes); the alarm switches off completely after 90 minutes. Cancelling the alarm for the day 1 Press »ALARM« while the alarm is going off. – The alarm (DAB station or alarm tone) stops, but it retains the set time for the next day.
OPERATION ___________________________________________ Timer mode The device has a sleep timer, which switches it off in radio mode at a preset time. You can set the switch-off time in 5 minute steps up to 90 minutes, and the device will store this setting. Activating the sleep timer 1 Press »SLEEP«. – Display: »Sleep«, and under it »œOff æ«. ɶ ʺ 2 Press » TUNING « to select the sleep time and press »SELECT« to confirm. – Display: »Sleep activated«.
