Please Note Theft protection The identity card for your car radio contains the model type, the serial number and the code number for coding. ǵ Code labels DOUBLE SECURITY SYSTEM Security Ǻ Serial No. Code No. The serial number is identical with the number embossed in the frame of your car radio. The Identity Card facilitates criminal investigation by the police in case of theft and speeds settlement of an insurance claim by providing evidence of ownership.
Please note Keeping the control unit Always keep the control unit in its case. Installing the car radio Dear customer… please let install your car radio by a specialist. In doing this, you create the basis for a correct operation of your car radio. The control unit is fixed inside the case. Grasp the control at its lateral edges to remove it from the case (see figure). The installation instructions are to be found at the end of these operating instructions.
Please note Traffic safety í Before making a drive please familiarise yourself with the various functions of your car radio. í Sound volume and traffic Operating your radio at high volume while driving can endanger you and other road users. Therefore, always adjust the volume so that you can still safely hear outside noise (e.g., car horns, police and emergency vehicles, etc.). Set the volume by means of the r VOLUME t buttons.
Switching On and Off The car radio can be switched on and off in several ways. 1. Press the IO button. ¡ 2. Switching on and off with the ignition/starter switch of the vehicle. Ǻ For this, the car radio must be switched on once with the ignition turned on. Then the radio is automatically switched on and off with the ignition. This function can be altered in the EXPERT control level , see page 16, EXPERT . 8 3.
Volume and Sound Settings Volume Use the r VOLUME t buttons to adjust the desired volume level. Example: Bass Repeatedly and briefly press the ¢ SOUND button until the display indicates: The display indicates: "VOL 00" … "VOL 46". Sound For each of the FADER, LOUD, BASS, TREBLE, and BALANCE settings applies: 1. Select the desired function by briefly pressing the ¢ SOUND button once or several times. 2.
Radio (Tuner) Selecting a range FM range: Repeatedly and briefly press the ¢ RADIO button until the display indicates "FM I" or "FM II". AM range (only on the WKC 3201 RDS): Repeatedly and briefly press the ¢ RADIO button until the display indicates "MW" (Mediumwave) or "lW" (Longwave) and the frequency tuned to. The mediumwave and longwave bands form a contiguous range and no switchover is therefore required.
Radio Setting RDS programmes (IS function) With the push of a button you can store up to 30 RDS programmes in the IS memory. The stored RDS programmes can be called up one after the other, see ”Important Information”, page 21. Ǻ The IS memory is useful if you wish to reassign the station buttons, or you are in an unknown reception area and do not wish to erase your stored stations. Starting an IS search Use the ¢ RADIO/IS button to select the "FM I" or "FM II" range.
Radio Calling up stored stations/RDS programmes: Select the range: FMl, FMll, MW or LW. Briefly press the desired station button. Ǻ The memory contents are maintained even when disconnecting the battery voltage. Selecting stations/RDS programmes with the search function 1. Select the range with the ¢ RADIO button: "FM I", "FM II" or (on WKC 3201 RDS) "MW", "LW". Ǻ Ǻ For a station search in the FM I or FM II range, the "IS" function must be switched off.
Radio Programme Types (PTY) LIGHT M Light classical music CLASSICS Serious classical music Many radio stations offer the "Programme Type" (PTY) service in the FM range (FMl, FM ll). For example, the identification " NEWS " is broadcast with the latest news. Using the PTY search function, you can automatically tune to stations having a preselected programme type, e.g. " POP ". OTHER M Music programmes that cannot be categorised (e.g.
Radio – Repeatedly press the r TUNING t buttons until the desired programme type is displayed. Ǻ Press one of the r TUNING t buttons until the signal sounds. The PTY search runs to the next station broadcasting the selected programme type, e.g. " POP ", which then is displayed. If no station is offering the selected programme type, you will hear the station last tuned to and the PTY function is deactivated. 3.
Cassette (TAPE) í Please always eject the cassette by pressing the “ ə s button before switching off the radio. This will save the cassette. Activating cassette mode Insert a cassette into the cassette compartment. The display will indicate ”TAPE”. Fast forward Fast forward Press the ə s button halfway in. “ Ǻ While a cassette is wound forward, you can listen to the radio or play a CD. For this, press the ¢ RADIO or ¢ CD/TAPE button. At tape end, radio or cassette mode is started automatically.
Compact Disc (CD) with "GRUNDIG CD changer"* Ǻ The following functions are only possible if you have connected a suitable CD changer* to your radio. Please also observe the operating instructions of the CD changer. On page 22 you will find a list of possible error messages. Selecting the CD programme source Repeatedly and briefly press the ¢ CD/TAPE button until "CD" appears in the display. Playing the tracks of the selected CD for approximately 10 s (TRACK SCAN) Briefly press the ¢ SCAN button.
EXPERT Control Level To make car radio operation as easy as possible, numerous settings that you need only once or occasionally are located in an additional control level (EXPERT).

Coding Ǻ Your personal code number is on the identity card of your car radio. Coding is not activated when the radio leaves the factory. If you have “activated” your car radio's coding: As soon as you disconnect the car radio from the car battery (or permanent plus terminal 30), it is electronically blocked. Only you are able to put it back into operation by entering your personal Code Number.
Coding Return to operation Waiting periods With the coding activated, the car radio is electronically disabled after it has been disconnected from the car battery (or permanent plus, terminal 30), e.g. after the radio has been removed during servicing. To prevent deactivation of the coding being possible by trial and error, waiting periods are required between attempts. During these waiting periods, the car radio can be switched on and off but will not play. 1. Switch on the car radio.

Important Information Audio cassettes Cassettes are subject to high temperatures during car radio operation. Therefore use only high-quality heat-resistant C60 and C90 CrO2 cassettes from name-brand manufacturers. Radio reception conditions VHF (FM) reception Reception conditions change constantly while you are driving. Mountains, buildings or bridges can all disturb reception. This is particularly true when you are farther away from the station.
Troubleshooting The radio cannot be switched on Insert the control unit once again. Press and hold down the least 1 second. ¡ button for at IO Check the fuse at the back of the radio, see also Fig. 4 at the beginning of this booklet. If it is defective, take the radio to your specialized dealer. The Security LED does not flash Check whether the EXPERT control level " BLK ON " is selected.
