Brief Operating Instructions Progamme sources Amplifier Using the ¢ rotary knob, you can switch the car radio on and off, alter the volume, and carry out fader, balance, bass, treble, and EXPERT settings. The currently selected function is indicated in the display. The median setting is achieved by pressing the button for a longer period (confirmation message by sound signal).
Display Radio mode U III TP AF LOUD MONO ɳ DX U III DX 8 MW LW LRN U range (VHF). Only stations/RDS programmes with "traffic announcements" are tuned to. RDS programmes with alternative frequencies and AF change are enabled. Improved sound quality at low volume level (LOUD). The radio has manually been switched to mono. Stereo reception Max. search sensitivity.
Amplifier Switching on and off on the car radio Press the “ IO POWER button. Volume Turn the ¢ rotary knob. The display indicates: "VOL 00" … "VOL 50" LOUD (loudness) This function improves the sound quality at low volume levels. Loudness on/off LOUD Briefly press the EXPERT button. With "Loudness" on, the display indicates "LOUD" TRE (Treble) BAL (Balance) ¡ Briefly press the TRE/BAL button. The display indicates: "TREB - 8"…"TREB 00"…"TREB + 8" Use the ¢ rotary knob to change the setting.

Radio Selecting the RADIO programme source In cassette or CD mode: SO URCE/ Repeatedly press the APF button until the display indicates "RADIO". Radio Calling up the LEARN memory Briefly press the < or > button: "RDS SCAN" appears in the display. After that you will hear the next RDS programme stored in the LEARN memory. Automatic station store Autostore Autostore in the RDS range Select the desired range: U I, U II or U III Press the sounds. “ U III LEARN button until the 2nd signal The display indicates "AS" and the frequency scrolls. After that you hear the programme having the best reception quality.
Radio Memory position buttons 1 – “ 6 “ Select range: U I, U II or U III, MW or LW. Setting the station/RDS programme: If the station/RDS programme tuned to is already stored in the selected range on a programme position button, for example, "U I", the corresponding number is indicated on the display. The display indicates "AF" You are receiving an RDS programme that is being broadcast by several stations with different frequencies.
Radio Traffic announcement standby (TP) To abort a traffic announcement briefly press the TP (TRAFFIC PROGRAM) = Station broadcasting traffic announcements. The radio is in traffic announcement standby if the display indicates "TP". Switching TP on/off: Briefly press the TP/AF button. ¡ TP/AF button. If the TP station tuned to can no longer be received, the radio will automatically tune to a receivable TP station. "LRN ..." appears in the display.

Skipping or repeating tracks APF = Automatic Program Finder Prerequisite are pauses of at least 3 seconds between music selections (without announcer text or the like). Not suited are music selections with very quiet passages (e.g., classical music) because such passages are treated as pauses. APF on/off SO URCE/ Press the APF button until the signal sounds.

Maintenance and Care Your car radio has been designed throughout to ensure maintenance-free operation over an extended period of time. If a malfunction should occur, please consult your dealer.
Coding Information about coding Your personal code number is on the identity card of your car radio. Coding is not activated when the radio leaves the factory. If you have “activated” your car radio's coding: As soon as you disconnect the car radio from the car battery (or permanent plus terminal 30), it is electronically blocked. Only you are able to put it back into operation by entering your personal Code Number.
Coding Return to operation The car radio is electronically disabled after it has been disconnected from the car battery (or permanent plus, terminal 30), e.g. after the radio has been removed during servicing. 1. Switch the car radio on: The display indicates "SAFE". After approx. seconds, it will indicate "I - - - -". 2. Enter the code number (on Identity Card), as described in the chapter "Activating coding". 3. Confirm the code number: LOUD Briefly press the EXPERT button.

Installation and Removal Aerial The car radio is designed for aerials with an impedance of 75Ω to 150Ω. Extended aerial cables, e.g. for aerials at the rear of the car, may impair reception. Figures p and ü – If necessary, use the aerial adapter (fig. p). – Fix the aerial adapter (fig. p) or aerial cable (fig. ü) in the plastic holder.
