INSPECT
EQUIPMENT BEFORE EACH USE!
Ridge-It inspection instructions:
Ridge-It components should be inspected at least annually
as a part of a your regular safety program. Inspections
should at the least include a check to see that all of the
components of the equipment are performing properly.
Common sense dictates procedures for visual inspections.
When inspecting equipment, check for physical
deformations, excessive wear, corrosion, and that all
components work properly and safely.
Inspect connecting hardware and webbing of any
other system components daily.
If product fails inspection contact your local dealer or
Guardian for replacement information.
MAINTENANCE, CLEANING, AND STORAGE
Only a qualified person trained by Guardian to service or
repair the equipment can carry out servicing the
equipment. All services and inspection dates should be
logged and maintained by the company safety officer.
Remove from service all products subjected to fall
arresting forces. Guardian will replace any of its
components involved in a fall arrest. Contact Guardian
for policy specifics.
Cleaning after use is important for maintaining the
safety and life of the equipment. Cleanse the equipment
of all dirt, corrosives, and contaminants. If equipment
cannot simply be wiped clean use a mild commercial soap
and water. Wipe and hang to dry.
Store equipment where it cannot be affected by heat,
light, excessive moisture, oil, chemicals, or other
degrading elements.
READ INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING!
Ridge-It anchors must only be installed into wood or metal structures
capable of withstanding 5,000 lbs. in the direction that the Ridge-It
would be impacted in case of a fall. One worker per Ridge-It fall
protection anchor. Maximum worker capacity is 310lbs.
APPLICATIONS:
Wood: Truss or structural member capable of withstanding 5,000lbs. or
better in the direction of the fall.
RIDGE-IT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
If installing into residential roofing, asphalt shingle, shake, or tile one or
two pieces of the ridge cap will need to be removed.
After sheathing and truss are located the Ride-It anchor must be secured
into a truss or roofing member capable of withstanding 5,000 lbs. of
force. Center the Ridge-It anchor over the ridge and use all eight (8) 16d
galvanized nails to fill all eight (8) pre-punched holes in Ridge-It.
When nailing the eight (8) nails into the truss make certain that each nail
is anchored to the truss. The easiest way to ensure this is to nail them at
an inward angle through the truss.
Reinstall the removed pieces of ridge cap over the Ridge-It. The “D”
rings should be the only part of the anchor showing after the ridge cap is
reinstalled.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
Attach lifeline to Ridge-It anchor by use of a double locking snaphook or
carabiner. If using a shock absorbing lanyard, such as the Guardian
VLA25, attach shock absorber pack end of lifeline to the Ridge-It.
Workers should position themselves to not allow a possible free fall of
greater than six feet. Use of a full body harness is mandatory.
