Fine Orchid Grow Mix
We recommend planting all Phalaenopsis, Intergeneric,
Oncidinae, Paphiopediums, Cymbidiums, and terrestrial orchids
in Gublers Fine Orchid Grow Mix. We also recommend planting
all seedlings in 3” pots or smaller in Fine grade mix, regardless
of orchid type.
It is best to transplant every twelve to eighteen months,
preferably right after flowering. This will prevent root rot and
stunting of the orchid’s natural growth. Healthy roots support
lush growth. It is best to moisten Gublers Orchid Grow Mix
thoroughly before transplanting. Select a container that best fits
the size of the orchid, usually the next size larger than the old
pot. There must be a minimum of one inch between the
orchid’s new growth and the pot’s rim. The pot can be made of
anything provided that there is good drainage.
Simple Potting Instructions:
1) Leave at least six inches of the root.
2) Position the older, generally smaller growths at one end of the pot’s rim.
The new growth, lighter in color, should be positioned to grow into the center of
the pot.
3) Pot the orchid by holding it in one hand, while using the other hand to fill
the pot with mix and while gently shaking. Work mix into pot with thumbs.
Make sure the base of the orchid is at the bark line. Stake plant up if
necessary.
4) Water the repotted orchid heavily to further compact the orchid mix and to remove any orchid
mix from the foliage.
