Builtin mesh filter in top cover, filters out leaves and debris. Attach any ordinary garden hose directly onto the spigot. Unzip the fop cover for access to the water inside to fil a watering can or bucket. Open or close the spigot by turning the red thumb screw counterclockwise fo open and clockwise to close.
