MIDI
MIDI CHANNEL
MIDI has 16 “Channels”. Information divided into 16 channels can be transmitted
through one MIDI cable.
e channel must match between the sender and the receiver. If not, the machines can
not “hear” what the other “says”.
MAIN MIDI MESSAGE
e MIDI information is grouped into a channel message per each of the 16 channels
and a system message for all channels. ere are more details in the MIDI IMPLEMEN-
TATION CHART.
CHANNEL MESSAGE
uNOTE ON
is data tells: which key (Note Number) is played, at what speed (Velocity) and the
strike/release (Note On/Off).
uPROGRAM CHANGE
Control Channel:
Switches the internal patches of this keyboard.
External Zone Channel:
Switches the external MIDI equipments patches.
uCONTROL CHANGE
e messages are transmitted (sent or received) in accordance with the motion of select
controls on the top panel, any foot or auxiliary pedals, or any MIDI controller informa-
tion.
SYSTEM MESSAGE
uSYSTEM EXCLUSIVE MESSAGE
is message is for transmitting the particular data between compatible equipment of the
same model or same make.
is keyboard can do a memory dump (= sending the total information compliment
onboard) and recording them to an external sequencer.
