Step 22
Mix some 30-minute epoxy and use a mixing stick to
apply it to the n slot in the top of the fuselage and
inside the opening for the tailpost.
Step 23
Insert the n and rudder in the fuselage. Use the
marked lines on the n to make sure it is seated fully.
Use rubbing alcohol and paper towels to clean any
excess epoxy and remove the lines from the n.
Support the rear of the fuselage while the glue
cures so that the tailwheel is not contacting the work
surface. This will prevent the n and rudder from
moving out of position.
Rudder and Elevator Servo and
Pushrod Installation
Parts Required
Fuselage Servos with hardware (2)
Clevises (2) Silicone keepers (2)
Snap keepers (2) Radio
22 1/8-inch steel elevator pushrod
22 3/4-inch steel rudder pushrod
Tools Required
Pin vise #1 Phillips screwdriver
5/64-inch drill bit 3/32-inch hex wrench
Sidecutters Thin CA
Step 1
Use a 3/32-inch hex wrench to remove the two 4-40
x 3/8-inch hatch retaining screws and #4 washers.
Then lift the rear end of the canopy to disengage the
magnets, and pull aft.
Step 2
Use a #1 Phillips screwdriver to screw a servo
mounting screw into each of the pre-drilled holes in
the servo tray. Remove the screw then apply 1–2
drops of thin CA to each hole to strengthen the wood.
Step 3
Prepare the rudder servo by installing the rubber
grommets and bushings. Note that the bushings are
installed from the bottom of the mounting lugs.
