Step 14
Remove the template. Use a cutoff wheel and drum
sander in a rotary tool to make the cutout in the cowling.
Step 15
Use canopy glue to glue the cooling bafe into the right-
hand cheek of the cowling. Shown here is the 2-stroke
installation for which the bafe is installed stock. Maintain
a 1/4 -inch (6mm) space between the forward end of the
bafe side and the inlet in the cheek of the cowling.
For the 4-stroke installation the angled piece in the
center of the bafe requires relief to accommodate the
engine rocker covers. Mark a line 1/4 inch above the
side and bottom of the bafe then remove the material
above the line before installing it in the cowling.
Step 16
Remove the needle valve and ratchet spring from the
carburetor so the cowl can be installed.
Step 17
Prepare the cowl mounting screws by sliding a #4
steel washer then a silicone spacer onto each of the
4-40 x 1/2-inch Allen head machine screws.
