Carbon Cub FX-3
189. Place a drop of thread lock on the threads near the fi tting,
then tighten the nut over the thread lock and against the
fi tting.
190. Slide the outer strut fairing on the strut. The strut will need to
be disconnected to do so.
The outer strut fairings are optional as they
are a non-functional scale detail.
191. The fairing is secured using six M2 x 6 sheet metal screws.
Use a drill and 1/16-inch (1.5mm) drill bit to drill the holes to
mount the fairing. Make sure to prepare each hole using thin
CA before installing the screws.
Fuselage door opening
192. There are two blind nuts located in the bottom of the wing
panel on the same side as the fuselage door. Apply a drop of
threadlock to the threads of the magnet and thread it into the
blind nut nearest the fuselage. This will hold the door open
when accessing components inside the fuselage.
193. The door can be held open using a 2 inch (52mm) piece of
3mm threaded rod and 3mm locknut. Thread the nut on the
threaded rod. Pass the rod through the door, then thread it
into the outer blind nut in the bottom of the wing near the
magnet.
The door can be left open for gentle upright flying. It
must be closed properly during aerobatic flight.
DECAL INSTALLATION
194. Apply the decals to your model using the photos located
in this section of the manual and the box art from your
model. Use a spray bottle and a drop of dish washing liquid
or glass cleaner sprayed in the location of the decal to
allow repositioning of the decal. Use a paper towel as a
squeegee to remove excess water from under the decal.
Allow the model to rest overnight so the remaining water can
evaporate.
195. The fuel cap (or fuel cap decal) is located 12 inches (305mm)
from the wing root and back 7
1
/
2
inches (190.5mm) from the
leading edge of the wing. When installing the threaded fuel
cap, the covering must be removed to expose the blind nut.
Make sure to use threadlock on the fuel cap to prevent it from
vibrating loose.
