COWLING INSTALLATION
See Page 6 regarding nose weight requirements for this model.
Gas Engine Only
1. Use a box wrench or spark plug tool to remove the spark plug from
the engine.
Use a small piece of tape over the hole to keep debris
from engine the engine through the spark plug and
exhaust ports while installing the cowling.
Gas Engine Only
3. Use a tapered reamer to make the hole for the fuel fi ller in the side
cowling. Check the fi t of the cowl side to the fuselage. If the fi ller
does not align, trim the fuselage as necessary to allow the side to fi t
in position with the fi ller in place.
4. Use contact adhesive to glue the side cowl to the fuselage. Use tape
to hold the cowl side in position until the adhesive fully cures. Install
both the left and right cowl sides.
Install the nut on the fuel filler to help hold
the cowl side in position as well.
Gas Engine Only
2. Use a hobby knife and #11 blade to remove the covering from the
fuselage side for the fuel fi ller. Position the side cowling against the
fuselage (shown in the following photos). Use a felt-tipped pen to
mark the location for the fuel fi ller on the inside of the cowl side.
Gas Engine Only
5. Install the correct O-ring from the fuel fi ller kit on the plug. Guide the
ll line from the tank through the fi tting. Fit the plug to the fuel line.
Gas Engine Only
6. Slide the plug into position.
8. Mark the location of the landing gear on the cowl using a felt-tipped
pen.
9. Use hobby scissors and/or a rotary tool with a sanding drum to
remove the material necessary to clear the landing gear and rigging.
7. Remove the forward rigging from the landing gear. Fit the cowling to
the fuselage. The cowl will fi t on the outside of the cowl sides. Make
sure the drive washer fi ts through the cowling. Use a rotary tool and
sanding drum to enlarge the opening in the cowl if necessary.
