CONNECTING TO AN EXTERNAL DEVICE
connecting to an external device
The SPC-7000 network controller can be used by connecting to cameras, DVR, and
other external devices.
TO CONNECT A RS-485/422 DEVICE
You can control a PTZ camera and DVR that support RS-485/422 communication with the controller.
1. Connect the rear PORT 1 with RS-485 port of the PTZ camera or DVR.

According to the external device connected, select RS-485 (Half Duplex) or RS-422 (Full Duplex)
connection.

For the Half Duplex system, use TX +/- terminals.

For RS-485/422 communications, pay special attention to the polarity (+/-).

To reduce RS-485 communication noise, connect the camera/DVR device’s G terminal with that of the
SPC-7000.

When grounding, make sure to turn the product’s power off.

Use the provided terminal block in the product package.

Check if the RS-485/422 device is compatible with SPC-7000.
Connecting the PTZ Camera
By connecting RS-485 port on the rear of the PTZ camera with PORT 1 of SPC-7000, you
can control the camera.

Depending on the camera, the polarity may differ.
For more information, refer to the user manual of the PTZ camera.
For the half duplex system (RS-485)
- Connect RX (+) of RS-485 port of the PTZ camera
with TX (+) of PORT 1 of SPC-7000.
- Connect RX (–) of RS-485 port of the PTZ camera
with TX (–) of PORT 1 of SPC-7000.
For the full duplex system (RS-422)
- Connect RX (+) of RS-485 port of the PTZ camera
with TX (+) of PORT 1 of SPC-7000.
- Connect RX (–) of RS-485 port of the PTZ camera
with TX (–) of PORT 1 of SPC-7000.
- Connect TX (+) of RS-485 port of the PTZ camera
with RX (+) of PORT 1 of SPC-7000.
- Connect TX (–) of RS-485 port of the PTZ camera
with RX (–) of PORT 1 of SPC-7000.
