READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL WARNINGS AND
INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE.
To Test an Alternator:
1. With the car located in a well-ventilated area (due to risk of carbon
monoxide poisoning), the parking brake set, all accessories off, and the
transmission in neutral/park, start the car and allow car to run for several
minutes. Plug in meter.
2. Read scale from the left part of the tester and compare with following chart:
To Test a Battery:
1. With the car’s engine cold (at least 30 minutes after last use) and all
accessories off, turn the key to the accessory or on position without starting
the engine. Plug in the meter.
2. Read scale from the right part of the tester and compare with following chart:
Note: The charts above assume that the rest of the car is in perfect repair. Poor
connections, wiring problems, or many other factors can cause a poor reading.
Always have a professional mechanic thoroughly investigate any automotive
problems before performing repairs.
