SAFETYOPERATIONMAINTENANCE SETUP
Clearing Jams
TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY FROM ACCIDENTAL OPERATION,
BEFORE ANY MAINTENANCE OR REPAIRS ARE DONE (including clearing jams):
•
Wear ANSI-approved safety goggles with side shields.
Other people in the work area must also wear ANSI-approved impact safety goggles with side shields.
•Release the trigger.
•Detach the air supply.
•Attempt to fire the Tool into a piece of scrap wood to ensure that it
is disconnected and is incapable of firing any fasteners.
•Empty the magazine and leave it open during service.
The Magazine is spring-loaded and may cause parts or a fastener to fly out of the Tool.
1. If a fastener is jammed in the discharge area,
disconnect tool from air hose, press down on
the Latch and pull back on Nail Guide Frame.
2. Empty Magazine (49) of staples, release any built-
up air pressure, and leave the Magazine open.
3. Hold the Stapler pointed away from you
and any other people or fragile objects
and lift up the Cover Latch (43).
4. Pull up on the Switch, lifting the Cover
Plate (44) up off the Drive Guide (41)
and remove jammed fasteners.
5. Inspect Drive Guide for bends or breakage.
If it is damaged, do not use tool until it is
repaired by a qualified technician.
6. Lightly oil Drive Guide and replace
the Cover Plate (57).
7. If a fastener is jammed in the Magazine, unfasten
the Latch and slide the Nail Guide Frame out all the
way back. Use a screwdriver to release the jammed
fastener by probing the openings in the Guide.
8. Pull out the jammed fastener and the remainder
of the fastener strip that is still in the magazine.
Dispose of the remaining fastener strip; it may
be bent or damaged in some other way.
9. Reload the Stapler.
10. Reconnect the Stapler to the air hose.
11. Press the Safety Tip against an appropriate
piece of scrap wood and test fire the Stapler
several times, checking for proper operation.
12. Disconnect Stapler, remove the staples, and store
the Stapler in a location out of children’s reach.
13. If you are unable to clear the fastener jam using the
method prescribed above, the tool should be taken
to a qualified service technician for proper servicing.
