InformationDisplay[] willalsolightup.
SystemSetup
TheAVR125 featuresanadvancedmemorysystem
thatenablesyouto establishdifferentconfigurations
forhe bassmanagement,digitalinput,surround
mode,delaytimesandoutputlevelsforeachinput
source.Thisflexibilityenablesyouto custom-tailorthe
wayinwhichyoulistento eachsourceandhavethe
AVR125 memorizethosesettings.Thismeans,for
example,hat youmayusedifferentoutputlevelsor
trimsfordifferentsources,orsetdifferentspeaker
configurationswiththeresultantchangesto thebass
managementsystem.Oncethesesettingsaremade,
theywillautomaticallyberecalledwheneveryou select
thatinput.
Thefactorydefaultsettingsforhe AVR125 haveall
inputsconfiguredfor ananalogsource(exceptforthe
DVDinput,whichhastheCoaxialDigital Input1 i_)
ashe default),Stereoasthesurroundmode,all
speakerpositionssetto "sma[' anda subwoofercon-
nected.Beforeusingtheunit,youwillprobablywant
to changethesettingsfor mostinputssohat hey are
properlyconfiguredto reflecthe useofdigitalor ana-
log inputs,thetypeofspeakersinstalledandhe sur-
roundmodespecifics.Rememberthatsincehe
AVR125 memorizesthesettingsfor eachinputindi-
vidually,youwillneedto makehese adjustmentsfor
eachinputused.However,oncetheyaremade,further
adjustmentis onlyrequiredwhensystemcomponents
arechanged.
Onceyouhavecompletedthesettingsforthefirst
input,manysettingsmaybeduplicatedfortheremain-
ing inputs.Rememberthatoncethesettingsare
enteredforoneinput,theymustbecompletedforall
otherinputsourcesinyoursystem.
SpeakerSetup
Theseadjustmentstellhe AVR125 whichtypeof
speakersareinuse.Thisisimportantasitadjustshe
settingshat determinewhichspeakersreceivelow-
frequency(bass)information.Foreachof theseset-
tingsusetheL ARGE settingif he speakersfora
particularpositionaretraditionalfull-rangeloudspeak-
ersthatarecapableof reproducingsoundsbelow
lOOHz.Usehe SMAL L settingfor smaller,fre-
quency-limitedsatellitespeakersthatdonotreproduce
soundsbelowlOOHz.Notethatwhen"small"speak-
ersareused,a subwooferis requiredtoreproduce
low-frequencysounds.Rememberthatthe"large"and
"small"descriptionsdo notreferto theactualphysical
sizeofhe speakers,butto heir abilityto reproduce
low-frequencysounds.Ifyouareindoubtasto which
categorydescribesyourspeakers,consulthe specifi-
cationsinthespeakers'owner'smanual,oraskyour
dealer.
Wih he AVR125 turnedon,followthesestepsto
configurethespeakers:
1. PuttheAVR125 intheDolbyProLogicIImode
bypressingtheSurroundModeSelector[] on
thefrontpanelor bypressingtheSurroundMode
Selector_ ontheremote,untilD0 L B Y
PRO LOGIC II- MOVIE appears
inhe MainInformationDisplay[] andhe
ProLogicII Indicator[] lights.
2. Presshe SpeakerSelectButton_ _ on
theremoteorfrontpanel.F NT S PKR will
appearintheMainInformationDisplay[].
3. Presshe SetButtonqi]_.
4. Presshe A/V Buttonsqi_)qi_l_onhe remote
ortheSelectorButtons[] on he frontpanel
untileitherL ARGE or S MAL L appears,
matchingthetypeof speakersyou haveattheleft-
frontandright-frontpositions,asdescribedbythe
definitionsshownintheprecedingsection.
WhenSMAL L is selected,low-frequency
soundswillbesentto thesubwooferoutputonly.
Notethatifyouchoosehis option,andhere isno
subwooferconnected,youwillnothearanylow-
frequencysoundsfromhe frontchannels.
WhenL A RGE is selected,afull-rangeoutput
willbe sentto thefront-leftandfront-rightoutputs,
andNOlow-frequencysignalswillbe sentto he
subwooferoutput.
5.Whenyouhavecompletedyourselectionforthe
frontchannel,presstheSet Button_ _, and
thenpresstheA/V Buttonsqi_)qi_l_on he
remoteortheSelectorButtons[] onthefront
paneltochangethedisplayto C SPKR.
6. PresstheSet Button_ W again,andusethe
Air Buttonsqi_qi_l_ onhe remote,orhe
SelectorButtons[] onhe frontpanel,toselect
theoptionthatbestdescribesyoursystembased
onthespeakerdefinitionsshowninthepreceding
section.
WhenC SMAL L isselected,low-frequency
center-channelsoundswillbesentto thesub-
wooferoutputonly.Notethatif youchoosethis
optionandthereisno subwooferconnected,you
willnothearanylow-frequencysoundsfromhe
centerchannelspeaker.
WhenC L A RGE isselected,a full-rangeoutput
willbesentto thecenterspeakeroutput,andNO
center-channellow-frequencyinformationwillbe
sentto thesubwooferoutput.
NOTE:IfyouchooseLogic7 ashe surround
modeforhe particularinputsourceforwhichyou
areconfiguringyourspeakers,theAVR125 willnot
maketheLARGEoptionavailableforthecenter
speaker.Thisis dueto he requirementsof Logic7
processing,anddoesnotindicatea problemwih
yourreceiver.
WhenC N0 NE isselected,no signalswillbe
sentto thecentepchanneloutput.
7. Whenyouhavecompletedyourselectionforhe
centerchannel,presstheSetButton_ _,
andthenpressthe4/_ Buttons_ _ onthe
remoteortheSelectorButtons[] onthefront
panelto changethedisplayto SR SPKR.
8. Presshe Set Button_ _ again,andthen
usethe A/V Buttonsqi_qi_l_ on theremoteor
he SelectorButtons[] onthefrontpanelto
selecttheoptionthatbestdescribesyoursystem
basedon he speakerdefinitionsshowninhe
precedingsection.
WhenS R S MA L L isselected,low-frequency
surround-channelsoundswillbesentto thesub-
wooferoutputonly.Notethatifyouchoosehis
optionandhere isnosubwooferconnected,you
willnothearanylow-frequencysoundsfromthe
surroundspeaker.
WhenS R L ARGE isselected,a full-rangeout-
putwillbesentto thesurround-channeloutputs,
andNOsurround-channelsignalswillbesentto
he subwooferoutput.
WhenS R N0 N E is selected,surroundsound
informationwillbesplitbetweenthefront-leftand
front-rightoutputs.Notethatfor optimalperform-
ancewhennosurroundspeakersareinuse,he
Dolby3 Stereomodeshouldbeusedinsteadof
DolbyProLogicII.
9. Whenyouhavecompletedyourselectionfor the
surroundchannel,presstheSet Button_ _,
andthenpressA/V Buttonsqi_)qi_l_onthe
remoteortheSelectorButtons[] onhe front
panelto changethedisplayto S- W SPKR.
10. PresstheSetButton_ _, andthenpress
he A/V Buttonsqi_)qi_l_on theremoteorhe
SelectorButtons[] on thefrontpanelto select
he optionthatbestdescribesyoursystem.
Thechoicesavailableforhe subwooferpositionwill
dependonthesettingsfortheoherspeakers,particu-
larlythefrontleft!rightpositions.
Ifthefrontleft!rightspeakersaresetto SMAL L,
he subwooferwillautomaticallybesetto SUB,
whichis the"ON"position.
