Remote Control Functions
DVDor LDplayer,dependingon howthe
remotehasbeenprogrammed.
Tuner Mode: Pressthis button when the
tuner is in useto selectbetweenautomatic
tuningand manualtuning.Whenthe button is
pressedso that the AUTOIndicator [] goes
out, pressingthe TuningButtonsl_)lr_! will
movethe frequencyup or down in single-step
increments.Whenthe FMband is in use,press-
ing this button whena station'ssignalis weak
will changeto monauralreception.(Seepage
28 for moreinformation.)
Direct Button: Pressthis buttonwhen
the tuner is in useto startthe sequencefor
directentry of a station'sfrequency.After press-
ing the buttonsimply pressthe proper
Numeric Keys_ to selecta station.(See
page28for moreinformationon thetuner.)
Tuning Up/Down:Whenthetuner isin
use,thesebuttonswilltune up ordown through
the selectedfrequencyband.If the TunerMode
Button (_)i'_'_lhasbeenpressedsothat the
AUTOIndicator[] isilluminated,pressingand
holdingeitherofthe buttonsfor threeseconds
will causethe tunerto seekthe nextstationwith
acceptablesignalstrengthfor qualityreception.
WhentheAUTOIndicator [] isNOTillumi-
nated,pressingthesebuttonswill tunestations
in single-stepincrements.(Seepage28for more
information.)
OSD Button: Pressthis buttonto activate
the On ScreenDisplay(OSD)systemusedto set
up oradjustthe AVR220'sparameters.
Macro Buttons: Pressthesebuttons
to storeor recalla "Macro",which isa
preprogrammedsequenceof commands
storedinthe remote.(Seepage34 for more
informationonstoringand recallingmacros.)
I_) Transport Controls:Thesebuttonsdo
not haveanyfunctionsfor the AVR220, but
theymaybe programmedfor theforward/
reverseplayoperationof a wide varietyof CD
or DVDplayers,andaudio or videocassette
recorders.(Seepage35for moreinformation

Throughcapabilityof the remote.)
I_ Skip Up/Down Button:Thisbutton hasa
directfunctionwith the AVR220, but when
usedwith a compatiblyprogrammedCDor
DVDchangerthey will changethe disccurrently
being playedin the changer.
DiscSkip Button:Thisbutton hasno
directfunctionfor theAVR220, but isoften
usedwhenthe remoteisprogrammedto oper-
ate a CDor DVDchangerto changethe discsin
the changer.(Seepage34 for moreinformation
on usingthe remotewith otherdevices.)
Preset Up/Down: Whenthe tuner is
in use,pressthese buttonsto scrollthroughthe
stationsprogrammedinto theAVR220'smem-
ory.Whensomesourcedevices,suchas CD
players,VCRsand cassettedecks,areselected
usingthe deviceInput Selectors I!_, these
buttons mayfunctionas ChapterSteporTrack
Advance.
Clear Button: Pressthis buttonto clear
incorrectentrieswhenusingthe remoteto
directlyentera radiostation'sfrequency.
Memory Button:Pressthis buttonto
entera radiostationintotheAVR220'spreset
memory.Oncethe MEMORYIndicator[]
flashes,youhavefive secondsto entera preset
memorylocationusingthe Numeric Keys

Delay/Prev Ch.:Pressthis button to
beginthe processfor settingthe delaytimes

• Button: Pressthisbuttonto changea

Speaker Select: Pressthis button
to beginthe processof configuringthe
AVR220's bassmanagementsystemfor use
with the type of speakersusedin your system.
Oncethe button hasbeenpressed,use the
A/V Buttons Ii_Ii_ to selectthe channel
you wishto setup.Pressthe Set Button
and then selectanother channelto configure.
Whenall adjustmentshavebeencompleted,
pressthe Set Button _ twice to exit the
settings and returnto normaloperation. (See
page 19for more information.)
Spare Button:Thisbutton doesnot have
anyfunctionfor the operationof the AVR220,
but it isavailablefor usewhen programmed
with the codefrom anotherremote.(Seepage
33for informationon programmingthe remote
with codesfor otherdevices.)
_Volume Up/Down: Pressthesebuttonsto
raiseor lowerthe systemvolume.Seepage35

remote,which allowsyou to changethe AVR
220'svolumewhile the remoteisset to control
anotherdevice.
TV/Video Selector:Thisbutton doesnot
havea directfunctionon theAVR220, but
when usedwith a compatiblyprogrammed
VCR,DVDor satellitereceiverthat hasa
"TV/Video"function,pressingthis button will
switch betweenthe output of the playeror
receiverandthe externalvideoinput to that
player.Consultthe owner'smanualfor your
specificplayeror receiverfor the detailsof how
it implementsthis function.
SPLButton:Thisbutton activatestheAVR
220'sFzSetfunctionto quicklyand accurately
calibratethe AVR220's output levels.Pressand
holdthe button for three secondsandthen
releaseit. Notethat theTestTonewill begincir-
culating,andthe Program/SPLIndicator I_
will changecolors.Duringthis sequence,EzSet
will automaticallyadjustthe output levelsfor
all channelsuntilthey haveequal output levels,
as shownbythe Program/SPI. Indicator
lightinggreenfor eachchannel.Pressthis but-
ton againwhenthe adjustmentis completeto
turn off the testtone.(Seepage21for more
informationon EzSet.)
6-ChannelDirect Input: Pressthis but-
ton to selectthe componentconnectedto the
6-ChannelDirect Input O asthe source.
Mute: Pressthis button to momentarily
silencethe AVR220 orTVset beingcontrolled,
dependingon which devicehasbeen selected.
WhentheAVR220remoteisbeing programmed
to operateanotherdevice,this button ispressed
with the Input Selector Button _ to begin
the programmingprocess.(Seepage 33for
moreinformationonprogrammingthe remote.)
EzSetSensorMicrophone:Thesensor
microphonefor the FzSetmicrophoneis behind
theseslots.Whenusingthe remoteto calibrate
speakeroutput levelsusingEzSet,besurethat
youdo not holdthe remotein a waythat cov-
erstheseslots.(Seepage21for moreinforma-
tion on usingEzSet.)
