Programming the Remote
NOTE:Toremovethe ChannelControlPunch-
Throughandreturnthe remoteto itsoriginalcon-
figuration,repeatthe stepsshownabove.
However,presstheVIDI/VCR Input Selector
in Steps1 and3.
TransportControl Punch-Through
TheAVR220'sremotemaybeprogrammedto
operatesothat the TransportControl
Functions_) (Play,Stop,FastForward,Rewind,
Pauseand Record)for a VCR,cassettedeck,DVD
or CDwill operatein conjunctionwith oneof the
otherdevicescontrolledbythe remote.Forexam-
ple,while usingandcontrollingtheTV,youmay
wishto startor stopyourVCRor DVDwithout
havingto changethedeviceselectedbythe
AVR220 orthe remote.Toprogramthe remotefor
TransportControlPunch-Through,follow these
steps:
1. Pressthe Input Selector_ for the device
youwill beusing(e.g.,TV)whenyouwishto
haveTransportControlPunch-Throughactive
andthe Mute Button _ at thesametime
until the redlight appearsunderthe Input
Selector_ andthe Program/SPL
Indicator_ flashesamber.
2. Pressthe Play Button_). TheProgram/SPL
Indicator_]D will stopflashingand
stayamber.
3. Pressand releasethe InputSelector Button
for the devicewhosetransportmechanism
will be controlled(e.g.,DVD,CD).The
Program/SPLIndicator _ will blinkgreen
threetimesandthen goout to confirmthe
dataentry.
Example:Tocontrolthe transportof a DVD
playerwhilethe remoteissetto controltheTV,
firstpressthe VID2/TV Input Selector
Button_ andthe Mute Button _ at
the sametime. Next,releasethemand press
the Play ButtonI_), followed by the DVD
Input SelectorButton_.

Reassigning Device Control
Selectors
AlthougheachInput Selector _ isnormally
assignedto thecategoryof productshownonthe
remote,it is possibleto reassignoneof thesebut-
tonsto operatea seconddeviceof anothertype.
Forexample,if youhavetwo VCRsbut no satellite
receiver,youmayprogramthe "SAT"buttonto
operatea secondVCR.Beforefollowingthe nor-
malprogrammingstepsfor eitherThree-Digitentry
orAuto Searchcodeentry,youmustfirst reassign
the buttonwith the followingsteps:
Pressthe Input Selector_ youwishto
reassignandthe Mute Button _ at the
sametime untilthe redlightappearsunderthe
Input Selector_ andthe Program/SPL
Indicator _ flashesamber.
2. Pressthe InputSelector _ for the device
typeyouwishto programinto the reassigned
button.
3. Enterthe three-digitcodefor the specific
modelyou wish the reassignedbutton to
operate.

Pressthe sameInputSelector_ pressedin
Step1 onceagainto storetheselection.The
red LEDunderthe reassignedInputSelectorwill
flashthreetimesandthen go out.
Example:Tousethe CBL/SATbutton to oper-
atea secondVCR,first pressthe CBUSAT
Input Selector_ andthe Mute Button
at the sametime until the red light glows
underthe CBUSAT_ button. PresstheVCR
button,followedbythethree-digitcode
for the specificmodelyouwishto control.
Finally,pressthe CBUSAT_ buttonagain.
Resetting the Remote Memory
Asyouadd componentsto your hometheater
system,occasionallyyoumaywishto totallyrepro-
gramthe remotecontrolwithout the confusionof
anycommands,macrosor "Punch-Through"pro-
grammingthat youmayhavedone.Todo this,it is
possibleto resetthe remotetothe originalfactory
defaultsandcommandcodesbyfollowingthese
steps.Note,however,that oncethe remoteis
reset,allcommandsor codesthat youhave
enteredwill beerasedandwill needto be
reentered:
1. Pressanyof the Input SelectorButtons
andthe "0" ButtonI[_ at the sametime
until the Program/SPLIndicator_ begins
to flashamber.
2. Pressthe "3" Button _ three times.
3.Thered LEDunderthe Input Selector _ will
goout andthe Program/SPLIndicator
will stopflashingand turngreen.
4. TheProgram/SPLIndicator_ will remain
greenuntil the remoteis reset.Notethat this
maytakea while,dependingon how many
commandsarein the memoryandneedto be
erased.
5.Whenthe Program/SPLIndicator_ goes
out,the remotehasbeenresetto the factory
settings.
