OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Using the Height Rod
The height rod telescopes as the headpiece is pulled upward with the most inner section telescoping from 36
inches (91.45cm) to 57½ inches (146cm), followed by the second inner section from 57½ inches (146cm) to
84¼ inches (214cm). The height rod collapses as the headpiece is pushed downward with the second inner
section collapsing first, followed by the most inner section.
1. Extend the height rod by grasping the headpiece near the hinge and, then, gently lower the head piece until
it just touches the top of the patients head.
2. With only the most inner rod extended (height measurement between 36 inches (91.45cm) and 57½ inches
(146cm)), read the height measurement by lining up the red line at the top of the small collar with the number
on the inner rod. See Figure 3 for a measurement of 52 inches (132.1cm).
3. With both the most inner rod and second inner rod extended (height measurement between 57½ inches
(146cm) and 84¼ inches (214cm)), read the height measurement by lining up the red line at the top of the
large collar with the number on the second inner rod. See Figure 4 for a measurement of 74 inches (188cm).
4. Completely collapse the assembly when finished.
Warning: Never leave the height rod extended with the headpiece opened perpendicular to the height
rod. Fold the headpiece down and completely collapse the height rod after use.
