The Saf-T Vent

EZ Seal systems are to be installed

only in accordance with Heatfab, “Installation and

Maintenance Instructions” and with all applicable local,

regional, and national codes.

The Saf-T Vent EZ Seal factory-built Special Gas Vent

and Gas Vent Connector is Tested and Listed by

Underwriters Laboratories to UL 1738 /ULC S636 for

use with Listed natural gas or propane burning

equipment that produce flue-gas temperatures not

above 550°F. Some applications have lower maximum

temperatures. The system is to be installed and sealed

per the manufacturers’ instructions so all joints are

gas tight, preventing leakage of products of combustion

into a building.

The Saf-T Vent EZ Seal system is fabricated from

AL 29-4C

stainless steel, which is highly suited for

use with high efficiency gas burning equipment, which

produce excessive amounts of condensation in the vent.

All joints in the Saf-T Vent EZ Seal system are fastened

with the patented Ring and Tab tapered closure system

and sealed with factory applied seal. This closure

system is tested to be gas tight at two and one-half

times the Listed pressure rating of 8" water column.

When properly installed using the Heatfab supplied

materials, the system may safely and securely be

utilized in all interior installations and may pass through

combustible exterior roofs or walls using the appropriate

thimble devices available from Heatfab. The system

may pass through interior partitions and floors provided

proper clearances are adhered to. If the venting system

must extend exposed to the outdoors for more than

3 feet, we recommend using the Saf-T Vent CI Plus

double-wall Special Gas Vent system.

When connected to gas-burning appliances with a

maximum continuous flue-gas temperature rating of

550°F, Saf-T Vent EZ Seal may be installed adjacent

to combustible materials on a maximum of 3 sides

only at 2” clearance.

When connected to gas-burning appliances with a

maximum continuous flue-gas temperature rating of

300°F, Saf-T Vent EZ Seal may be installed adjacent

to combustible materials on a maximum of 3 sides

only at 1” clearance.

When connected to gas-burning appliances with a

maximum continuous flue-gas temperature rating of

480°F, Saf-T Vent EZ Seal may be enclosed by com-

bustibles with an air space clearance of 8” horizontally

or 6” vertically.

The Saf-T Vent EZ Seal system is to be sized in

accordance with appliance manufacturers’

specifications, the most current edition of NFPA 211

Standard for Chimneys, Fireplaces, Vents, and Solid

Fuel-Burning Appliances, the most current edition of

NFPA 54 National Fuel Gas Code (ANSI Z223.1), and

all applicable local and regional codes.

Technical Bulletin Connecting Saf-T Vent® EZ Seal to Appliances and Other Saf-T Vent Products EZ Seal IS Compatible with Existing Heat-fab Products. Here’s how: 1. Connecting to an Appliance Flue Collar • If the flue collar that comes with the appliance has Heat-fab’s integral red seal, you may attach EZ Seal pipe and fittings directly to it. Make the joint as described in the EZ Seal installation instructions (Pub # PI-EZ). Appliance flue collar has Heat-fab’s integral red seal. No sealant required.

2. Connecting an EZ Seal Appliance Adapter to the Appliance • If the EZ Seal appliance adapter has been designed for a sealant-free connection to the appliance, it will have an integral red seal in the female end and in the end that attaches to the appliance. EZ Seal adapter with integral red seal on appliance end. No sealant required to attach to flue collar.

3. Connecting EZ Seal to Saf-T Vent GC (single-wall) or Saf-T Vent CI (double-wall) • Saf-T Vent GC and Saf-T Vent CI lack the integral red seal. When you connect EZ Seal to them you will need to use an approved high-temperature RTV silicone sealant. Follow the procedure outlined in the GC or CI installation instructions (Pub # PI-VBH or PI-CIINS). EZ SEAL SAF-T VENT GC Sealant Required EZ SEAL SAF-T VENT CI 4.

5. Connecting Saf-T Vent GC or Saf-T Vent CI to EZ Seal • Saf-T Vent GC and Saf-T Vent CI sections and fittings may be attached to an EZ Seal system: • If the male end (without tabs) of the GC or CI part was made with a butt-weld (a single layer of steel at the weld area), the part can be attached to an EZ Seal female end without using sealant.

The unique design of this part allows it to be installed in a horizontal, vertical or inclined orientation. Continuous horizontal runs in excess of 30 feet require a condensate drain. Saf-T Vent EZ Seal ® SINGLE WALL AL 29-4C® SPECIAL GAS VENT Tees, Boot Tees, & Covers: Boot Tee — Use vertically or horizontally to add appliances into a common-vent system. When installed horizontally, the male end of the tee body may be capped off with a tee cover to allow for future appliances. When used in conjunction with a drain tee cover, the boot tee will effectively transition a vent system from a horizontal to a vertical orientation while allowing for proper condensate drainage.

Due to its high pressure drop, the conduit tee is generally not used to make a transition from horizontal to vertical. (Use a boot tee or an elbow.) The takeoffs are not removable on these tees.

The term “increaser” is based on an increase in vent diameter in the direction of flue gas motion. Increasers are eccentric to allow for proper drainage of condensate when installed horizontally. Other diameter configurations may be available; please contact Heatfab’s Engineering Team to discuss your special needs.

Guy sections are primarily installed in long, inaccessible chases or used to provide support to systems with extended lengths above the roofline. The 20-gauge stainless steel support legs can be used below or above the roof, and can be used in pairs for extra stabilization. Hardware to attach the support to the structure is not provided; attach using best construction methods. Be sure to consider clearances when planning the system. Never drill or screw through the Saf-T Vent vent conduit.

Use to pass through combustible and non-combustible roof structures. The roof jack support system must be installed on a flat roof or a level curb only. Each roof jack support system includes a storm collar that provides support and when sealed, acts as a water barrier.

Saf-T Vent EZ Seal ® SINGLE WALL AL 29-4C® SPECIAL GAS VENT Terminations: Rain Cap — Use as a termination on vertical systems. Category I and II appliances require a raincap or other device to prevent rainwater from entering the vent. Vent systems for positive pressure appliances may omit the raincap if there are other provisions for draining rainwater from the system. The raincap may also be used as a horizontal termination.
