BLADE BALANCER INSTRUCTIONS
Congratulations and thank you for purchasing the
Heli-Max Blade Balancer. Flying with accurately balanced
helicopter blades is critical for vibration free operation,
reduced maintenance, and more power from smoother
rotation. Your new Blade Balancer is capable of balancing
virtually any blade with a drag bolt diameter of 2.5mm,
3mm, 4mm, and 5mm.
FEATURES
The Blade Balancer is supported on both ends with dual
6x12mm ball bearings for precision leveling. An easy to read
bubble level can be calibrated with a fine tuning brass dial for
dead-on precision. Blades can be balanced on a non-level
work surface because of the sturdy, pivoting base.
USING YOUR BLADE BALANCER
Prepare the balancer for use by rotating the brass
adjustment dial until the bubble in the vial indicates level.
Make sure that the blade balancer does not move during
this process.
The first step for balancing is finding the center of gravity
of the two blades. Place one blade onto the balancer with
the leading edge against the side with the level. Shift the
blade on the balancer until the bubble indicates level. The
middle of the black balancing tray is now at the C.G. of this
blade. Mark this position on the blade with a felt tip pen.
Line the ends up of both blades and transfer the mark you
made on blade one to blade two.
Position the blade with the transferred mark onto the
center of the balancing tray. In order for the C.G. of both
blades to match, add balancing tape or electrical tape to
the lighter end until the bubble indicates level. If the ends
of the tape overlap, be sure that the overlapping end
points to the trailing edge of the blade.
Your Heli-Max Blade Balancer includes (4) different sizes
of blade mounting plates and a nylon mounting bolt.
Select the mounting plate that best fits the holes in the
blade grips. Secure the mounting plate and two blades to
the balancer with the nylon mounting bolt.
Add tape to the C.G. of the lighter blade until the two
balance according to the bubble level. Using a different
colored tape in this step will help with remembering the
two types of balancing done should adjustments need to
be made in the future.
