Owners manual

SAFETY:
BEFORE STARTING YOUR INSTALLATION, BE SURE TO SET PARKING BRAKE AND CHOCK TIRES.
NOTE: Your spring may have a small hole in the end, this is for our manufacturing process and will not be used.
1. Place the accessory leaves on top of the existing overload spring with the longer leaf on the top and the hump over the
factory U-bolts. It may be necessary to rotate the spring 180 degrees to make the distance between the spring and the
frame contact pad even.
2. Install both U-bolts and cross bars on either side of the hump as shown in Photo 3. Be sure to use flat washers with all
nuts. Leave loose at this time.
3. Align all new leaves over the center U-bolt block and check to see that all spring edges line up as close as possible. If
alignment does not occur, remove the small U-bolts and turn one of the springs around end to end. Replace small U-bolts
and realign.
4. Tighten all U-bolts to 50 ft-lbs and then double nut to keep in place.
5. Check your installation, looking for clearance on any undercarriage components, such as gas lines, exhaust pipes, brake
lines, wiring, differential cover, etc. Be sure all nuts and bolts are tight as specified. Recheck the installation after one
week of driving and every periodically thereafter.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Hellwig Helper Springs are designed to increase the “Level Load” carrying capacity of your vehicle.
Never load the vehicle this unit is installed on beyond the manufacturer’s maximum gross vehicles weight rating.
