Frequently Asked Questions (1/2)
1 - Is Hercules DJ Console Mk2 for PC only or for Mac and PC?
- DJ Console Mk2 first version, with beige faces, includes VirtualDJ 3 DJC Edition for PC only (Windows XP and
Vista),
- DJ Console Mk2 second version, with aluminum color panels, released in 2007 with a Mac OS logo on the
packaging, includes VirtualDJ 3 DJC Edition for PC (Windows XP and Vista) and VirtualDJ 4 DJC Edition for Mac
(Mac OS 10.4 and 10.5)
Both DJ Console Mk2 versions have drivers for PC and Mac, so they can support PC and Mac DJ software, but
only the second version includes a Mac DJ mix software.
2 - Does Hercules DJ Console Mk2 require a USB 2 bus?
Hercules DJ Console Mk2 requires a USB 2 Full Speed bus (formerly called a USB 1.1 bus) or a USB 2 High
Speed (formerly called USB 2.0).
3 - Is there a specific requirement on the USB bus to support DJ Console Mk2?
DJ Console Mk2 needs a full-powered bus. If you do not have enough electrical power in your USB 2 or USB 1.1
bus, you must:
- either plug DJ Console Mk2 to your computer via a USB hub which has an independent power adaptor,
- or use the optional power plug (no adapter is included: it is optional) and connect a 9V DC REGULATED
adaptor.
4 Can DJ Console Mk2 mix with other software?
DJ Console Mk2 sends Direct Input and MIDI commands similar to DJ Console Mk1, so all the PC software
(DJing and music) supporting DJ Console Mk1 can also support DJ Console Mk2. For example, DJ Console Mk2
can control Traktor 3 (PC/Mac), UltraMixer (PC/Mac), FutureDecks (PC/Mac), MixVibes (PC), DJ Decks (PC),
DeejaySystem (PC), MegaSeg (Mac).....
5 After updating my Windows drivers for DJ Console Mk2, I no longer hear the preview in the
headphones. What can I do?
You should download the update of VirtualDJ 3 DJC Edition, on http://www.virtualdj.com.
VirtualDJ 3.4.1 solves this issue. You can download the software update for free once you register and type your
VirtualDJ 3 DJC Serial Number.
6 Is the software VirtualDJ the same as in the first DJ Console version?
No, the version of VirtualDJ is a tailored version based on VirtualDJ 3 (VirtualDJ 1 DJC Edition was included in
with DJ Console Mk1), and it includes some functions which were not included in DJ Console 1, such as more
effects on FX buttons, video files playback, and scratch on the jog wheels.
7 Can DJs connect not only 1 but 2 analog audio sources?
Deejays mixing with 2 analog audio sources also own an analog DJ mixer, so if you connect 2 analog audio
sources, we suggest you also connect your analog DJ mixer to the DJ Console Mk2’s 2 separate outputs so that:
you alternately mix computer audio in DJ Console Mk2 and analog audio from your external source,
you also do the audio mixing on your external DJ mixer.
DJ Console Mk2 offers 2 mixing modes:
inside DJ Console Mk2, the output is 1 stereo output
outside, DJ Console Mk2 can plays on 2 separate outputs, if the mixing is performed on an external
mixer.
