GETTING TO KNOW YOUR APPLIANCE (CONT.) CONTROL PANEL (ALL MODELS) The electronic touch-screen control system of your Hestan refrigeration product maintains constant temperature in all compartments and displays the measured temperature on the control panel. It also allows the user to personalize settings of the various functions and provides alerts should a malfunction occur.
CONTROLS AND OPERATION TURN APPLIANCE ON AND OFF First time start up. Touch the ON/OFF button for 3 seconds. The display shows the following launch screens: Shutdown. Touch the ON/OFF button for 3 seconds to shutdown the unit. + Hestan logo. - Settings Initial test (lasts 3 minutes). The display shows the Home screen with the temperature measured from inside the various compartments. The unit automatically starts to cool down until reaching these factory set temperatures.
CONTROLS AND OPERATION (CONT.) EN Turning off Fridge compartment. (Models KRP & KRB) Turning on the Fridge compartment again. (Models KRP & KRB) The Fridge compartment can be shutdown individually, whereas the freezer (FreshSelect™) drawer cannot be turned off unless through the complete shutdown of the unit. To turn on the unit again, touch the ON/ OFF button, the display will turn on; the starting screen and the Home screen.

ADJUSTING VARIOUS TEMPERATURE SETTINGS Each model has been carefully tested before leaving the factory and is adjusted in such a way to ensure high performance and low power consumption. Usually, it is not necessary to modify the settings. Nevertheless, according to special needs, it is possible to modify the set temperatures within a certain range. The “recommended” settings below are also the factory presets for each of the zones and modes.
CONTROLS AND OPERATION (CONT.) EN Padlock icon Display Information and Malfunction Messages The padlock icon shows up when the temperatures are set up. The icon shows that it is or is not possible to modify the compartment's temperatures anymore. An integrated control system provides information through light signals or text messages visualized on the display. Problems that cannot be solved by the user are reported through a fault code.

CUSTOM FUNCTIONS AND SETTINGS MaxCool Mode - Fridge (not in KFC models) It is possible to personalize the operation of your Hestan unit in order to adapt it to the different ways you might want to use it. This function lowers the refrigerator temperature to 36°F [+2°C] for 12 hours, permitting more rapid cooling of food that has just been placed inside. The more quickly an item can be cooled or frozen, the better it will be preserved.
CONTROLS AND OPERATION (CONT.) Holiday Mode EN This function is recommended in case of prolonged absences since it allows considerable energy savings. This function brings the refrigerator compartment temperature to 57°F [+14°C]. It is possible to program the duration, or it can be manually deactivated upon re-entry after a period of absence. This function remains active even if during the period of absence there is a prolonged power outage. It is possible to program a duration of 1 to 90 days.

Beverage Cooler (not in KRC Models) Ice Maker (optional, not in KRC Models) This function can be activated when it is necessary to cool off beverages quickly, by placing them inside the freezer compartment. The Ice Maker will produce 10 cubes per cycle, in approximately 10 cycles every 24 hours. For more details, see USING THE ICE MAKER on page 30. It is possible to select a duration of 1 to 45 minutes.

EN Ice Maker Cube Size (not in KRC models) Water Filter (optional, not in KRC models) This function permits selecting the size of the ice cubes, by choosing between Large (default setting) or Medium, and activation of the Fast Ice function, which increases the quantity of ice produced. The water filter is essential for the purification of the water used to produce ice, and to clean the circuit.
CONTROLS AND OPERATION (CONT.) Reset Filter The Reset Filter function sets to zero the time left before the filter needs to be replaced. It is necessary to set the counter to zero each time the cartridge is replaced. + Functions 42 °F - 1 Settings At the Home screen, touch the Functions icon. Manual Clean, Water Filter (optional, not in KRC models) If ice production has been disabled or unused for a long period, it is recommended to perform a Manual Clean function.
CONTROLS AND OPERATION (CONT.) Manual Clean Empty water from ice bin Replace ice bin and press OK EN OK At the end of the cleaning, empty water from ice bin, then press OK. Cleaning completed Please wait... Wait a few seconds, the home screen will appear. Place a suitable tray or bowl under the Ice Maker for gathering the water during the cleaning process. Repeat the cleaning process until the water in the ice bin is clear. When done, remove the tray or bowl.

CUSTOM FUNCTIONS AND SETTINGS Date It is possible to personalize the operation of Functions your Hestan unit in order to adapt it to the Off different ways you might want to use it. The display will show the date in the format (day:month:year). By touching the display you can modify the settings. SETTINGS - 1 Settings °F After touching the Settings icon on the Home screen, the following available settings will be seen.

This function also selects the display at 12 or 24 hour (military time) mode. This function permits visualizing the temperature in Centigrade or Fahrenheit degrees. Normally, the appliance is set for Centigrade degrees. + 42 °F - Functions Settings 1 At the Home screen, touch the Settings icon.
CONTROLS AND OPERATION (CONT.) Language FreshSelect™ To set the language of the unit. The freezer compartment can be operated in 3 different modes, Fridge, ExtendFresh, or normal Freezer mode. EN Sabbath Mode (Optional) Reset (Restore Defaults) The function makes it possible to comply to certain religious observances requiring that the operation of the appliance is not affected by the opening or closing of the doors (the thermostatic control, the inner lighting and the ice maker are deactivated). This function restores the default factory settings, cancelling all the changes that have been made thereafter.
CONTROLS AND OPERATION (CONT.) Maintenance (due to alarm signal) Disable Maintenance For correct operation, the unit requires periodic cleaning of the ventilation grille and the condenser. An audible signal and message on the display occurs every 6 months. It is possible to disable the signal and see the time left before the next cleaning that has to be done. For cleaning details see CARE AND CLEANING on page 36.
CONTROLS AND OPERATION (CONT.) Service EN Maintenance Info System Service The service function is reserved for Hestan Info System service personnel. The function Info System shows product data such as the model and serial number, software code, and other factory codes of the fridge. A Hestan Customer Care associate may request this information. Demo Mode If the unit you purchased was used as a showroom model, it may be in a special energy-saving mode call Demo Mode.
INTERNAL LAYOUT FRESHSELECT™, LOW-TEMP DRAWERS The FreshSelect™ drawer is held to the slide guides by a thumbscrew on each side. Release the thumbscrews to remove the drawer. EN To remove the inner drawer unscrew and remove its thumbscrews. When replacing the drawer, make certain the back of the drawer engages under the clips on the slide guides. Once the drawer is properly in position, reinstall the thumb screws as they are necessary to keep the drawer in place.
INTERNAL LAYOUT (CONT.) DOOR BINS The door bins are adjusted by lifting the bin upward and sliding into the desired position. The lower door bin has a retaining support to keep taller items from falling out. The upper door bins do not have the support and are meant for storage of shorter items. EN The door bins are easily removable for cleaning. To remove a door bin from the door, remove the top cap of the left and right side ladder then slide the bin upward and out.
INTERNAL LAYOUT (CONT.) Ice is a porous material which can absorb odors from the environment. Ice cubes which have been in the ice cube container for a long time may absorb odors, stick together and slowly become smaller. We recommend that old ice cubes not be used. EN Other means of preventing odors: If the ice cubes have an unusual odor The ice cube container should be cleaned occasionally with warm water. Make sure that you switch off the ice maker before clearing the container.
INTERNAL LAYOUT (CONT.) WATER FILTER The Water Filter makes available high-quality water for the production of ice cubes. It provides up to 1056 gallons [4000 liters] of water for a maximum time of 6 months. EN When the filter has nearly expired the message “Replace Filter Cartridge” will appear on the display. Models KRP, KRB The filter is located inside the refrigerator compartment, above the top glass panel. Prior to changing the filter, switch off the ice maker per the instructions on page 19.
FOOD PRESERVATION Your refrigerator is designed to ensure precise, constant temperatures and appropriate humidity levels in all compartments. EN In addition, the refrigeration system ensures that frozen foods and ice do not absorb the odor of fresh foods and that the humidity in the refrigerator does not freeze and build up frost. Nevertheless, to properly preserve all of your foods, it is not enough to have an excellent refrigerator. It is also necessary to know the rules for correct food preservation.
FOOD PRESERVATION (CONT.) WHEN BUYING GROCERIES Always take the following precautions: • EN • • • • Place any packages of raw meat, fish or poultry in plastic bags so that they do not drip on other foods. Purchase meat, poultry and fish last. Do not leave your groceries in a warm car after shopping. Keep a freezer bag in your car and use it in case of very high temperatures or long trips. Check the production dates and “best before” times on foods to be sure that they are fresh.

CARE AND CLEANING Before performing any sort of cleaning, disconnect the appliance from the electrical power supply. To clean the parts made of stainless steel use a microfiber cloth and the special sponge provided in the kit with the appliance. Always use the cloth and sponge in the direction of the steel’s satin finish. For painted surfaces, use a mild household liquid detergent solution to remove dust and other deposits.
TROUBLESHOOTING TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE If you notice malfunctions in your appliance, use this guide before calling for service. This guide can help you personally resolve the problem or could provide important information to be conveyed to the service technician to ensure rapid and effective repair. EN Malfunction message A malfunction is usually indicated by a message on the display. Problems that cannot be solved by the user are signaled through a malfunction code.
TROUBLESHOOTING (CONT.) Unpleasant odors inside the refrigerator Clean the appliance completely according to the instructions. EN Hermetically cover all the food. Do not conserve food for prolonged periods of time. The doors are difficult to open The appliance is designed to ensure a fully hermetic closure. When the door is closed, a vacuum condition can occur: in this case it is necessary to wait a few seconds until the pressure balances before opening the door.

La machine à glaçons produira 10 cubes par cycle, en environ 10 cycles toutes les 24 heures. Pour plus de détails, voir «UTILISATION DE LA MACHINE À GLAÇONS» à la page 30.

Le filtre à eau est essentiel pour la purification de l’eau utilisée pour produire de la glace et pour nettoyer le circuit.

Attendez quelques secondes, l’écran du menu principal apparaît. Placez un bac ou un bol approprié sous la machine à glaçons pour recueillir l’eau pendant le processus de nettoyage. Répétez le processus de nettoyage jusqu’à ce que l’eau du bac à glaçons soit claire. Une fois terminé, retirez le plateau ou le bol.

Cette fonction restaure les paramètres d’usine par défaut, annulant toutes les modifications apportées par la suite.

Il est possible de désactiver le signal et de voir le temps restant avant le prochain nettoyage à effectuer. Un signal sonore et un message sur l’écran se produisent tous les 6 mois.

Un associé du service clientele Hestan peut demander ces informations.
DISPOSITION INTERNE TIROIRS À LA FRESHSELECT™, BASSE TEMPERATURE Le tiroir FreshSelect™ est maintenu sur les guides coulissants par une vis à serrage de chaque côté. Relâchez la vis pour retirer le tiroir. FR Pour retirer le tiroir interne, dévissez et retirez les vis à serrage. Lors du remplacement du tiroir, assurez-vous que l’arrière du tiroir s’engage sous les clips des guides coulissants. Une fois le tiroir en place, réinstallez les vis à serrage car elles sont nécessaires pour maintenir en place.
DISPOSITION INTERNE (SUITE) BACS DE PORTE Les bacs de porte sont ajustés en soulevant le bac et en le glissant dans la position souhaitée. La bac inférieure de la porte a un support de retenue pour empêcher les articles plus grands de tomber. Les bacs supérieure ne disposent pas du support et sont destinés à stocker des articles plus courts. FR 2 1 Les bacs de porte sont facilement amovibles pour le nettoyage.
DISPOSITION INTERNE (SUITE) La glace est un matériau poreux qui peut absorber les odeurs de l’environnement. Les glaçons qui se trouvent dans le bac à glaçons depuis longtemps peuvent absorber les odeurs, coller ensemble et devenir plus petits lentement. Nous recommandons de ne pas utiliser de vieux glaçons. FR Autres moyens de prévenir les odeurs: Les glaçons ontils une odeur inhabituelle? Le bac à glaçons doit être nettoyé occasionnellement avec de l’eau tiède.
DISPOSITION INTERNE (SUITE) FILTRE À EAU Le filtre à eau fournit une eau de haute qualité pour la production de glaçons. Il fournit jusqu’à 1056 gallons [4000 litres] d’eau pour une durée maximale de 6 mois. FR Lorsque le filtre a presque expiré, le message «Remplacer la cartouche filtrante» apparaît à l’écran Modèles KRP, KRB Le filtre est situé dans le compartiment réfrigérateur, audessus du panneau de verre supérieur.
LA CONSERVATION DES ALIMENTS Votre réfrigérateur est conçu pour garantir des températures précises et constantes ainsi que des taux d’humidité appropriés dans tous les compartiments. FR En outre, le système de réfrigération garantit que les aliments surgelés et la glace ne absorbent pas l’odeur des aliments frais et que l’humidité du réfrigérateur ne gèle pas et ne forme pas de givre. Néanmoins, pour bien conserver tous vos aliments, il ne suffit pas d’avoir un excellent réfrigérateur.
LA CONSERVATION DES ALIMENTS (SUITE) LORS DE L’ÉPICERIE Prenez toujours les précautions suivantes: • Placez tous les emballages de viande, de poisson ou de volaille crus dans des sacs en plastique afin qu’ils ne s’égouttent pas sur d’autres aliments. • Achetez la viande, la volaille et le poisson en dernier. Ne laissez pas vos courses dans une voiture chaude après vos achats. Conservez un sac de congélation dans votre voiture et utilisez-le en cas de températures très élevées ou de longs trajets.

ENTRETIEN ET NETTOYAGE Avant de procéder à tout type de nettoyage, débranchez l’appareil de l’alimentation électrique. Pour nettoyer les pièces en acier, utilisez un chiffon en microfibre et l’éponge fournie dans le kit avec l’appareil. Toujours utiliser le chiffon et l’éponge dans le sens de la finition satinée de l’acier. Pour les surfaces peintes, utilisez une solution détergente liquide douce pour éliminer la poussière et les autres dépôts.
