5.14 General Purpose Input Outputs (GPIOs)
A versatile scheme of relaying environmental information from and to the QC1000 unit is
available through the GPIOs.

The maximum voltages indicated must be met at all times or irreversible damage to the
equipment might be the result.
Due to the multi-purpose nature of the GPIO, it’s not possible to galvanically isolate them. If
galvanic isolation is required install a protection relay in the signal path.
Important Considerations
Furthermore, always connect inputs/outputs to non-sensible systems. Since QC1000 is
permanently powered, it must be made sure it can never feed current into a potentially dangerous
subsystem even if the connection of either one of the power supply lines (either Vbatt+ or Vbatt-)
are lost.
5.14.1 Example Installation Reverse Switch
Always connect the reverse gear sense line to the switch side, which connects to the buzzer or
the strobe for reversing. Never connect on the relay coil side or on a driving output!
It is compulsory to mount protection relays when the inner workings of signal sources are not
completely understood or the receiving subsystem might act unexpectedly.
