Use and Care Guide

Care & Maintenance
While Highwood products are designed to provide years
of trouble-free, ultra low-maintenance service, the ps
below will help you keep them looking like new.
Because our products are made with a unique, non-porous all-weather material and assembled
with stainless hardware, you can feel condent leaving them outside year aer year. All
outdoor products are however, exposed to airborne contaminants that build up leaving a layer
of dirt and grime.
CLEANING
Using hot soapy water and a s bristle brush will remove surface dirt and grime. Stubborn
stains can be removed with a water-based cleaner (E.g. Windex, 409, Pledge, Murphy’s Oil
Soap, Simple Green, etc.). You can also use a power washer with a medium/wide nozzle seng
to clean the surface of the product. Never use cleaners containing aromac solvents on
Highwood material.
If your product is white and you see that dirt and surface contaminants are causing a dirty/
brownish nt, an extra step can be taken. Use a 75% bleach and 25% water mixture and
wipe the surfaces down. Allow the mixture to remain on the product for an hour, then rinse
thoroughly. (Be sure to do this in a safe locaon and protect your eyes, skin, and wear old
clothes).
MAINTENANCE
Your Highwood product is made from a next-generaon outdoor material. If the material is
damaged during use (scratched or chipped), it can oen be repaired.
Scratches — Take a very ne grade of steel wool (0000 grade) and “sand” the scratched area
in the same direcon that the embossing paern runs. Apply enough pressure to gradually
minimize the scratched area. Once the scratches are reduced, the surface area may appear
dull and possibly even lighter in color; however, this will be less noceable over me and with
outdoor exposure. To nish the repair, apply furniture polish or carnauba wax and bu to a
nish.
