Step 2. Install the New Direct Spark Igniter Electrode
10. Remove the Hot Surface Igniter and bracket.
11. Cut and remove any cable ties that are holding the brown and orange wires and remove them completely.
12. Drill two 3/16” holes for the Direct Spark Igniter Electrode mount in the plate next to the existing hole for
the igniter. (Use the igniter as a guide for the holes spacing.)
13. Mount the DIRECT SPARK IGNITER ELECTRODE (3002-6011) to the plate with two #8x1/2” screws
(1004-6029) and two nuts (1001-2597) in the newly drilled holes. Make sure the igniter probes are in the
proper direction over the orifice assembly.
14. Make sure that the green ground wire and flame probe are still secured to the plate.
15. Route the new SPARK WIRE along the same path as the current wiring harness and connect it to the
Direct Spark Igniter.
16. Place new cable ties on the wires keeping them tight against the gas line as they were previously.
17. Conversion complete!
Step 4. Test the Unit
18. Return power and gas to the unit.
19. Run the unit.
NOTE:
Before Returning Power and Gas to the Unit, Make Sure No Extra Materials are
Inside or On the Heater Body and All Clearances for Fire Safety are Still Met.
