14) Drill designated opening with a 1/2 in. drill bit.
15) Insert new gas valve into heater, making sure that the raised portion of the gas valve
rests in the opening.
16) Mount gas valve to heater by reinstalling mounting bolt into the brass orifice.
17) Apply pipe sealant to the threads of the 3/4 in. pipe nipple and reinstall the ball
valve assembly.
18) Connect wires to the gas valve.
19) Apply pipe sealant to the threads of the ball valve and connect gas hose.
20) Turn main gas supply ON.
21) Turn ball valve to the ON position.
22) Make sure gas valve switch is turned fully counter clockwise to the ON position.
23) Plug power cord into the receptacle.
24) Turn toggle switch that is located on the control panel to the ON position.
25) Check for gas leaks. (Soap and water work well.)
26) Have a certified gas technician check gas pressure while heater is in operation.
Pressure requirements are printed on the heater’s rating label.
Caution: To be performed by a CERTIFIED GAS TECHNICIAN only!
a) Disconnect heater from power source and turn OFF gas supply going to the
heater.
b) Remove the manifold pressure tap plug from the gas control valve and
connect pressure gauge.
c) Reconnect heater to power source and turn ON gas supply going to the
heater.
d) Return heater to operation and read pressure gauge. Note: To obtain an
accurate manifold pressure reading , the heater must be cycled on and off
several times to stabilize the pressure regulator diaphragm.
e) The gas pressure must be measured with all gas appliances in operation that
use the same gas supply or piping.
f) If necessary, adjust the built-in pressure regulator on the gas control valve to
the acceptable manifold pressure that is found on the ratings plate and page
two of the owner's manual.
