SAFETY PRECAUTIONS Power Source The unit should be operated only from a 230-240V~ 50 Hz outlet. Please do not open the cover by yourself. There is high voltage in the set, which will endanger your life. Please contact local service agent for help and advice. Repairs should be carried out by a qualified technician only. The apparatus is not disconnected from the AC power source (mains) as long as it is connected to the wall outlet, even if the apparatus itself has been turned off.

WIRING INSTRUCTIONS Your receiver is designed to operate on 230 to 240V, 50Hz current only. Connecting it to another power source may damage the receiver.The wires in the mains lead are coloured as follows. Blue = Neutral Brown = Live WARNING To prevent electric shocks, remove the plug from the mains socket before you take off its cover. IMPORTANT The colours of the wires in the mains lead from your receiver may not be the same as the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug.

PREPARATION CONNECTIONS Place your HDB65 receiver on a firm, level surface with at least a 10cm gap around all sides of the case and in a position convenient for connection to your television, a mains power outlet and a TV aerial wall outlet (or the 'flying lead' from your TV aerial, as appropriate). Please refer to the safety section in Appendix A.
CONNECTING A VCR If you have a VCR or other equipment connected to your television, please connect the receiver as described here. Unplug the aerial lead and connect this to the ANT IN socket on the rear of your receiver. Connect the aerial lead (supplied) from theTV OUT on the receiver to the ANT IN on the rear of the VCR. Then connect an aerial lead from the TV OUT on the VCR to the ANT IN socket on the rear of your TV.
MENU INTERFACE CHANNEL LIST FIRST TIME INSTALLATION When the box is first turned on from stand-by mode and if there is no channel stored in the database, First Time Installation Menu window is displayed on the screen. In the first window, you have to set your TV type. If you press SELECT then Do you want to start automatic search? pop-up menu is displayed. Auto search can be started by selecting Yes button. The box will automatically find the channels and store them for you.
DELETING UNWANTED CHANNEL To delete a channel highlight it using [UP] and [DOWN] and RED/GREEN buttons, then highlight the Delete button using [LEFT] or [RIGHT] keys and press SELECT. A message is displayed to confirm your decision, if you still want to delete press SELECT once more and the channel will be deleted, else the operation will be cancelled if you select NO.
TIMERS MENU Timer Menu is entered from the Main Menu. There is a five column summary information, such as timer no, channel name, start time, end time, start date and mode, for each of the five timers. Start, End and Date field data are entered using number keys. Current time and date are shown on the lower-right part of the screen to help you.
FAVOURITE MODE This function enables or disables the 5 favourite channel list mode by pressing [LEFT] or [RIGHT] buttons and press OK .If it has Favourite channel it will switch to that channel. If there is no favourite channel, a warning message is displayed. NOTE: If you select some programmes as Favourite and Favourite list mode is activated, only those channels will appear in the EPG.
In Configuration menu with the [UP] or [DOWN] keys Receiver Upgrade is highlighted and with SELECT, it is activated. With OAD (Over-Air Download) you can upgrade your unit. Also you can see the version of the software in your receiver. SET LOCK KEY See Page 4 for more details of Over Air Download PARENTAL SETTINGS Use [UP] or [DOWN buttons to go to Parental Settings option. Press SELECT button to enter Parental Settings Menu. A box asking for the lock key is displayed.
In manual search the number of the multiplex (channel number)is entered manually and only that multiplex is searched for the channels. In manual and auto search, any existing channel in the database is not re-stored to avoid redundant duplicates of that channel. INSTALLATION The options located in Installation Menu are: 1. Automatic Search 2. Manual Search FIRST TIME INSTALLATION 3.
NOTE: If you have selected some programmes as Favourite and Favourite list mode is activated, only those channels will appear in the EPG. In EPG Menu, you can easily see the extended help information by pressing INFO key. If you highlight an event, short event description, extended event description, start and finish times of event are displayed on the screen. CHANNEL NAVIGATION There are two ways to navigate through the channels: 1.
VOLUME CONTROL The volume level of the sound from the receiver can be altered with the [V+] and [V-] keys on the remote control handset. Pressing either key displays a bar graph of the sound volume on the TV screen.The volume level selected will remain set, even when the receiver is turned off and on again, until it is altered with the [V+] and [V-] keys. The audio volume adjustment for the receiver is independent of the volume control on your TV set.
APPENDIX A - SAFETY POWER The receiver should be plugged into a 230V to 240V AC, 50Hz supply only. LEADS Ensure the power supply lead, and all other leads, are positioned so they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by things placed on or against them. Pay particular attention to the power lead, where it enters the mains plug and where it comes out of the receiver. Do not connect or adjust leads when the receiver is plugged in.
