PREPARATION FOR USE - 14 - 3 Connect one end of the coaxial cable (supplied) to the ANT.OUT jack of your VCR. 4 Connect the other end of the coaxial cable (supplied) to the UHF/VHF antenna jacks. SETTING A VIDEO CHANNEL If your TV does not have A/V terminals; When the VCR is in the Playback mode or when the VCR is in the VCR position, your TV will receive the signals from the VCR on either channel 3 or 4.
PREPARATION FOR USE - 15 - CONNECTING TO INPUT JACKS When you copy a video tape, or watch a program recorded on an another source, use audio/video input jacks. • When you connect the monaural VCR etc to this VCR, connect the Audio output jack of the monaural VCR etc to the AUDIO IN L jack of this VCR. The audio signal will be recorded in both L and R channel equally. INPUT SELECT To use the external input jacks, select the AUX position.

PRESET FOR USE - 22 - 1 Plug in the VCR power cord Plug the VCR power cord into a standard AC outlet. "--:--" appears on the display. • Whenever the AC plug is connected, the VCR search the local PBS station for auto clock setting. If the VCR find the local PBS station, current time appears on the display. 2 Select channel 3 or 4 on the TV Turn on the TV and set the TV channel to the same video output channel as located on the back of the VCR.
PRESET FOR USE - 23 CH02 TUNER SET UP • The VCR distinguishes between standard TV channels and cable channels. 7 After scanning The tuner stops on the lowest memorized channel. The TV screen returns to TV mode. CH 02 • If you subscribe to CABLE TV, "CATV" appears on the display. • If "TUNER SET UP" appears on the TV screen again, check the cable connections. Then, press SELECT button once again. The VCR will begin preset again.

Follow the steps below when you want to use this feature even if you set the AUTO CLOCK to ON.

VERTICAL HOLD CONTROL When the picture begins to vibrate vertically, stabilize the picture by or button in the Still mode. pressing CHANNEL (or CH/SET) NOTES: • When the picture is distorted or rolling vertically, adjust the vertical hold control on your TV. • Some latest TV's do not have a user adjustable vertical hold control. TRACKING ADJUSTMENT • Tracking adjustment will be set automatically (Digital TRacking function) when you start playback.
PLAYBACK - 40 - • When the Counter Memory is activated, the tape will rewind to the 0:00:00 and the VCR will be in the Stop mode. JOG AND SHUTTLE FUNCTION You can view the playback picture at a high speed or advance one frame using the Jog and Shuttle function. 1 Select Jog/Shuttle mode Press JOG/SHUTTLE button in the Play mode or Still mode. The Jog/Shuttle indicator lights on. The picture will freeze on the screen. No action for Jog/Shuttle in 30 seconds makes the Jog/Shuttle indicator light turn off.
SPECIAL PLAY BACK - 41 - NOTE: When noise lines appear on the still picture, change to slow mode and adjust tracking as described in Slow Tracking. Repeat playback will start automatically. NOTES: • Once you select the repeat play mode, it stays in effect even after you turn off the VCR. • When the Counter Memory is activated, the tape will rewind to 0:00:00 and the VCR will be in the Stop mode. • If the Rental mode is set [ON], the "RENTAL PLAY " display has priority.
SEARCH - 43 - 3 Select "RENTAL" Press CH/SET or button repeatedly to point to "RENTAL". Then, press SELECT button. SEARCH - 44 - This feature can be used to memorize a beginning point that you want to review. And you can search it easily by rewinding or fast forwarding. • Insert a prerecorded tape. • If the counter is not displayed, the Counter Memory will not be activated. Press SELECT button so that the counter appears on the TV screen. 1 Stop the tape at your desired point Rewind or fast forward the tape to the beginning point at which you want to review. 2 Reset the counter to 0:00:00 Press COUNTER RESET button.
SEARCH - 45 - position to forward direction. 1 Select "TIME SEARCH" mode Press TIME SEARCH button. 2 Enter your desired time Press CH/SET or button repeatedly until your desired time appears. (Example: "2:50" for 2 hours 50 minutes) TIME SEARCH 2 : 50 3 Begin Time Search Press REW or F.FWD button. The VCR begins rewinding or fast forwarding to the specified point. The time counts down as the searching progresses. 4 After Time Search When 0:00 is reached, the VCR will start playback automatically.
SEARCH - 46 - Example: You are watching program number 4 and want to fast forward to program number 7. You must skip three programs. 1 Select "INDEX SEARCH" mode Press INDEX SEARCH button. 2 Enter your desired number or button repeatedly until the number of programs Press CH/SET that you want to skip appears. (Example: "03" for 3 programs) INDEX SEARCH 03 3 Begin Index Search Press REW or F.FWD button. The VCR begins rewinding or fast forwarding to the beginning of desired program.

RECORDING - 48 - NOTE: When you record with a cable converter box, the VCR channel must be selected to 3 or 4 then the actual channel that you wish to record must be selected on the cable converter box. 2 Select the tape speed Press TAPE SPEED button on the remote control to select the desired tape speed (SP/LP/SLP). EDIT SEARCH To edit an unwanted segment from the already recorded portion of tape while VCR remains in record mode. 1) Press PAUSE button. 2) Press and hold REW button until you have reached the beginning of the unwanted segment.
