CLEANING AND CARE
Boil-dry protection
If there is not enough water in the kettle, the device switches off automatically. Always make sure that there
is enough water in the kettle since the automatic switch-off shortens the lifetime of the water kettle.
Let the device cool off before filling it with water again.
Cleaning and care
Prior to cleaning, pull the power plug (6) out of the power outlet. Wait until the device has completely cooled
off.
Never immerse electrical parts of the device or the base (7) in water during cleaning. Never hold the device
under running water.
Clean the exterior surfaces of the housing with a slightly damp cloth and then rub dry.
Ensure that no water enters into the interior of the device (around the switch) and on the base.
Never use solvents and abrasives, hard brushes, metallic or sharp objects for cleaning. Solvents are harmful
to health and attack the plastic parts. Abrasive cleaners and tools do scratch the surface.
Clean the filter (10) with water regularly. It can be removed from the spout (9) for cleaning. Re-insert the
filter. Do not operate the water kettle without first having inserted the filter.
Decalcification
Limescale reduces the performance of the water kettle. Therefore, decalcify the water kettle at regular
intervals, at least twice per year.
Use a commercial limescale remover and follow the directions on the package.
Alternatively, you can decalcify your device with a vinegar solution.
Put 30 ml of white wine vinegar into the water kettle and fill it half-full with water.
Let the mixture boil and then let it act for one minute. Repeat the procedure three times.
Pour out the mixture and rinse out the water container with water.
Fill with fresh, clean water. Heat the water and then pour it out. Repeat this procedure several times in order
to remove the vinegar odour.
