The safe use of this product requires an understanding of the information on the tool and in this operator’s manual as well as a knowledge of the project you are attempting. Before use of this product, familiarize yourself with all operating features and safety rules. The Rotochoke™ Zip Start™ allows for easier and quicker starting.
assembly throttle control handle WARNING: throttle cable Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire before installing parts, making adjustments, cleaning, or when not in use. Failure to do so could result in possible serious personal injury. upper TUBE ASSEMBLING THE BLOWER TUBES See Figures 2 - 5. n Place large clamp on the elbow tube and install the elbow tube onto blower. Tighten large clamp securely. n Place large clamp on the bellows and install the bellows onto the elbow.
assembly To adjust the harness straps: CAUTION: Make all adjustments to the harness straps before starting the blower to avoid the possibility of injury. ADJUSTING HARNESS STRAPS Harness straps should be adjusted to a comfortable position before starting the blower. n Blower should be in operating position before adjusting the harness straps. Slip arm through harness strap and onto shoulder, then repeat for the other shoulder.
operation STARTING AND STOPPING See Figures 6 - 8. Starting the product differs depending on whether the engine is cold or warm. Blower should be on a flat, bare surface for starting. TO START A COLD ENGINE: Slowly press the primer bulb seven (7) times. STARTER GRIP choke dial PRIMER BULB Rotate the choke dial clockwise to the FULL CHOKE position. NOTE: Each choke position is identified by a detent in the housing. Squeeze the throttle trigger fully and hold.

Failure to do so could result in possible serious personal injury. proper operating position OPERATING THE BLOWER See Figure 9. n Slip arm through harness strap and onto shoulder, then repeat for the other shoulder. Adjust the straps to a comfortable position. Refer to Adjusting Harness Straps earlier in this manual. Remove unit for starting. n Start the blower. Refer to Starting and Stopping earlier in this manual.

WARNING: HEX NUT flat washer choke dial cover FILTER screen Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields during power tool operation or when blowing dust. If operation is dusty, also wear a dust mask. GENERAL MAINTENANCE Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts.
maintenance SPARK PLUG FUEL CAP This engine uses a Champion RCJ6Y or equivalent spark plug with .025 in. electrode gap. Use an exact replacement and replace annually, or more frequently if necessary. WARNING: Be careful not to cross-thread the spark plug. Crossthreading will seriously damage the product.
troubleshooting Problem Engine will not start. Possible Cause No spark. No fuel. Engine is flooded. Starter rope pulls harder now than when new. Solution Check spark. Remove spark plug. Reattach the spark plug cap and lay spark plug on metal cylinder. Pull the starter rope and watch for spark at spark plug tip. If there is no spark, repeat test with a new spark plug. Push primer bulb until bulb is full of fuel. If bulb does not fill, primary fuel delivery system is blocked. Contact a servicing dealer.
