1. Measure the area to be tiled & cut the
Waterproof matting including all trim
pieces to size using a utility knife.
We recommend a dry fit before
proceeding to step # 2.
2. Apply a latex modified thin-set mortar
(conforming to ANSI specification 118.11)
to the substrate using a 5/32”x 3/16”
(6mm) V notched trowel.
Ensure 100% even coverage.
3. Lay the pre-cut Waterproof matting black side
down. From the edge of the room, work the
Waterproof matting firmly into the thin-set
mortar with flat edge of the trowel, ensuring
100% contact.
Remove any excess mortar & eliminate
any air pockets.
5. Center the tape over the seam, ensuring
the tape overlaps the seam evenly on
either side. Smooth the seam tape firmly
into the thin-set mortar with flat edge
of the trowel, ensuring 100% contact.

8. Crease seam tape along its length
& apply between corners, ensuring
2” (50mm) overlap onto the corners.
Position tape in place & secure firmly
with edge of trowel removing excess
mortar & eliminating air pockets,
ensuring 100% contact.
9. You are now ready to tile immediately
onto the 100% waterproof and crack
suppression membrane having installed
the Waterproof matting correctly.
4. To ensure a 100% waterproof seal when
joining 2 or more pieces of Waterproof
matting, you must cover the seam with
Waterproof matting seam tape (sold
separately). Using a 5/32” x 3/16” or 6mm
V notched trowel, cover the open seams with
a Latex modified thin-set mortar approx 6”
(15cm) wide, with 100% coverage, ensuring
an even overlap either side of the seam.
6. After the matting has been installed, to ensure
a 100% waterproof seal, Waterproof matting
inside & outside corners must be used (sold
separately). Using a 5/32” x 3/16” (6mm) V
notched trowel, apply a Latex modified thin
set mortar approximately 3” (75mm) wide on
the floor & wall where corners will be applied,
ensuring 100% coverage. Position corners in
place & secure firmly with edge of trowel
removing excess mortar & eliminating air
pockets, ensuring 100% contact.
7. To ensure a 100% waterproof seal
between wall & floor, Waterproof matting
seam tape must be applied. Using a 5/32”
x 3/16” (6mm) V notched trowel, apply the
thin-set mortar to floor & wall between
corners where seam tape will be applied,
overlapping 2” (50mm) onto corners,
ensuring 100% coverage.
