SERVICING YOUR GENERATOR
AIR CLEANER ELEMENT CLEANING
A dirty air cleaner element will restrict air flow to the carburetor,
reducing engine performance. If you operate the generator in very
dusty areas, clean the air cleaner element more frequently than
specified in the Maintenance Schedule.
Wash the air cleaner element in a solution of household detergent
and warm water and rinse thoroughly, or wash in nonflammable or
high flashpoint solvent. Allow the air cleaner element to dry
thoroughly.
Wipe dirt from the air cleaner housing and cover using a moist rag.
Be careful to prevent dirt from entering the air duct that leads to the
carburetor.
Soak the air cleaner element in clean engine oil and squeeze out the
excess oil. The engine will smoke during initial startup if too much
oil is left in the air cleaner element.
