Energyflowfromgasenginetowheels(&sometimesalsotobatteryviamotor/generator)

WhentheInsightiscruisingataconstantspeedandtheBatteryModulestateofchargeisrelatively
low,someengineoutputisusedbytheIMAmotor/generatorbeingoperatedingenerationmodetocharge
theBatteryModule.SomeofthisenergywillbedeliveredtotheInsight's12vaccessories,viatheDC-DC
converter,asnecessary.Inthisstate,theinstrumentdisplaywillshowpartialchargingonthecharge/assist
gauge.
When the Insight is cruising and the high-voltage battery is sufficiently charged, the IMA
motor/generatorcontinuestoturnbutonlyasmallamountofelectricityisstillgenerated.Thiselectricity
willbeusedtosupplythe12vaccessories,andanyexcessenergywillbeusedtoslowlychargetheBattery
Module.Inthisstate,theinstrumentdisplaywillshownochargingonthecharge/assistgauge.

